I think shure 57's are used as both vocal, and instrumental microphones and are supposed to be pretty good. I know they work well live, but someone with a bit of more info might wanna tell you if they're excellent for recording as well.

Condenser mics are more expensive..
Is there a reason it has to be a condenser mic?

I'm recording with Pro Tools and I just want a great sounding mic for optimal performance.
I was looking at these:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/MXL-MXLV63M-Condenser-Studio-Microphone-with-Shockmount?sku=273158
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/AKG-Perception-200-LargeDiaphragm-Condenser-Microphone?sku=271243
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/MXL-MXL-990MXL-991-Recording-Microphone-Package?sku=273166
These seem like pretty good deals.
Not sure which one I prefer yet.

That's what I use to. It's $200 but well worth the price.

Do you have a mixer with powered XLR inputs?
I don't know if you know already but condenser mic's need power, so if you're mixer doesn't give it you're gonna need a phantom power supply as well which will probably be another $30 at least. Not a lot I know but if you're on a bidget make sure you factor this in.
Can't really help with stuido mic recommendations but if you're ever looking for a live vocal mic the Shure Beta 87's are the nuts.
