First video - your predictions and ideas

Maybe it could take place in a military facility, a Chinese Army base, and the band is on top of a building there, with big video screens all over the place, graffiti all over everything, with cuts of the army soldiers marching and loading up ready to assault, while choppers are flying overhead, spotlights shining all around, the band just rocking out the entire time. If not, imagine the video to Audioslave's 'Cochise', where they're just on a building with tons of huge fireworks and rockets going off. Just put GNR on the Great Wall instead of a construction facility or whatever they were on...

Great thought (the first one), but that would fit only for Chinese Democracy song and Axl said it won't be a single.

I think the first GNR video should be like the video Soundgarden did for 'Fell On Black Days'. For those that don't remember, the band is in a small black room and the band just starts playing the song live. No lip synching like most videos. Very groundbreaking at the time. As for what song they choose to pick, I would prefer 'Chinese Democracy'. But if Axl wants to go completely mainstream and expand his fanbase to people of all ages and especially this new generation, I think if he has a catchy pop song along the lines of U2's 'Vertigo', I think he should go with something like that instead. He needs his first single to be #1 in the first week, so I think a pop song would be the best option other than 'Chinese Democracy' or 'The Blues' like most people want. And in my opinion, a ballad should be completely out of the question. A ballad should be done as a 2nd or 3rd single.

Whatever it is and however it's done, the videos (especially the first one) should reflect the album itself, and the hopefully "groundbreaking," "innovative," etc. etc. elements that Mr. Rose has been working on all these long years.

i don't think we'll be seeing the band doing any role playing/acting in the videos
some in-studio shots... some backstage footage... concert footage...  and a performance staged exclusively for the video would be cool...

i liked the animation they put together for the intro of the hard rock gigs... something like that could be incorporated

but I really got to say - i have no ideas on what to expect

something i think would be very cool - small detail - is if they do it in widescreen high def format 
in any event --  i'm thinking theatrical movie release quality

This might sound corny to u but I kinda like the Idea of Madagascar being there first video, And Basically u see Axl washing up on the beach. Then getting up and we see all these clips of the old GnR and clips from newpapers and magazines that are all ANTI-AXL then basically we see Him pic up a GnR plaque thats been broken in half and as all this is going on with Axl coming back and finding all the shitstorm thats been left to him we see constant clips of the whole world basically against him a saying hes washed up, then he puts the GnR plaque back together which morphs into the NEW GNR SYMBOL and then we zoom out and its on brains drumset and their all at a concert performing Madagascar. Basically to me the song is about triumph in the face of the worst kind of adversity u can think of, Its js a rough Idea I dont have it all mapped out but those are js some images that popped into my head when hearing the song. I mean it would be cool to show through all the bullshit and fucking ingrates that Axl is still standing tall with a new Guns N' Roses cast and at the end of the Video we see Axl sitting back in his chair smoking a cigar walking out of the venue and getting into a Limo, js a way of saying hey Im not done yet motherfuckers, Im back and badder than ever. But the Image of him washing up on the shore definately sticks in my head the most.

Cool idea too, but I think sharing our thoughts decreases our chances to watch such scenes in a gn'r clip  . Especially if someone from the crew reads that thread? .

I always heard "Catcher In The Rye" would be the first single/video but I never heard it from Axl so the rumor doesn't carry much weight - especially these days when CD's track list is in huge question (as it always has been).

if ya give any credance to hear-say... according to a fan who spoke with Axl backstage, Axl named the first single (title not revealed by fan)... In any event this would indicate he had/has already selected the first single sine 12/02.  If that choice hasn't changed then they've had some time to come up with a concept for the video for it.

oooo! i just had a thought..
what if the video opened with Axl's line from the HOB "I have traversed a treacherous sea of horrors to be with you here tonight" and then throughout they showed snippets of the comeback...
starting with HOB... could include the famous "welcome back" chant and then.. Rio.. .a shot of him throwing the fan out... the huge crowd at Rio... the ending where he and Beta hugged...  and then some behind the scenes stuff... the european tour cancellations news (somehow).. the Hard Rock gigs.. including a reenactment of Slash being turned away from the gigs... shots from those shows... then more behind the scenes stuff of what was going on in the band and the gnr camp in general and with Axl...then the world tour 02 and american leg... including shots of Axl stuck on the plane while the venue cancelled Vancouver... the riot.. footage from the tour...  behinds the scene stuff... MSG (include the sold out in 15 minutes thing somehow)... then the philly riot..   more behind the scenes stuff... Then come forward to where GN'R are at that point...  triumphant

Ha. Ha. Ha.? .....Yes the singles will have videos to go with them.? Wait, now that I think about it, do you guys think CD will have a jewel case or digipack (when) it is released?? I think they might just put it in ziplock sandwich bags since it has taken such a long time to come out.?

I've figured out over the years that a thread needs to have 10% of post per views to be worthy of looking at.? So if there are 100 views and 10 posts I look at it.? If it has 80 views and 3 posts I know looking at it will be a minute of my life I can't get back.? 4 posts, 219 views, should have known better.
