I know there a couple threads about this, but the whole mixing thing has got me really confused. I e-mailed "A Place to Bury Strangers": the band that said that the guy that was recording them was doing work with GNR. As expected their reply was:

Ron

Thanks for getting in touch. And thank you for listening to our music.
John works as part of an engineering team I believe. However, he has
requested that we do not talk about his other clients and I really
couldn't say in what capacity he is working with GnR anyway. As far as
we are concerned he recorded several tracks for us and will be mixing
them during the coming months. We hope to get something out ASAP.

So here are a couple possible scenarios that I've thought up:

1. This guy is doing the final pro-tools things for the record.
2. This guy is doing a small selection of songs that Andy Wallace didn't do.
3. He is simply mixing Frank and Bumble's parts

I firmly believe that he is not doing anything with recording. My reason? Go take a look at his resume. The only major acts that he has had anything to do with have all been mixing or pro-tools work.
