Axl can take alot of pressure off himself by sharing more information with the rest of us. We are a community and a pretty damn understanding one when we are informed.

I've followed the music industry pretty heavily for the past 20 years and I will say...when a band announces a release date official or tentative...the reality of the album coming out within a few weeks of that date is pretty on the nose (March 20th is probably more realistic). ?It's only rarely will an album slated for a date get pushed by months. ?And that usually depends on a marketing strategy (like a big release coming out in the fall rather than late summer or an album being garbage and the label doesn't want to put any steam behind it).

When a band gives a release date, that means the album is in the pipeline! ?Look for the label getting the album by the year's end. ?and the mass promotion to begin January 1st. ?

My prediciton...we hear a new GNR single at midnight on Dec. 31!!!

So now, anti-whiners can understand whiners wanted : album and band news, real news. You said : "when there will be a release date you'll whine whine and whine". But all posts I read are positive. A letter like this one was the clash that had to happen.

And thanks to the italian fanpage, men you were right.

This letter is both disappointing and enlightening at the same time, It is nice to hear from Axl personally, but the only thing I dont like is now I will always feel like I can take anything said for granted. This was the closest we ever came for CD to be released and once again its going to be pushed back.

Although I do like the fact that Axl said condensed to 3 weeks. I also hope that after the shows in Universal, GnR doesnt disappear for months on end without a word.

Since it's obvious that Axl reads this forum, I think we should show him a debt of gratitude for his detailed filled apology and explanation letter.  Axl, we're with you til' the end man.  We know you'll do everything possible to get us the album when the time is right.  I dont need to tell you that we're all chomping at the bit for March!!  Thanks for your honesty and granting your fans some clarity.

Waiting

« Reply #492 on: December 15, 2006, 12:49:23 PM »

I haven't read through the 20 odd pages of this thread but I think most have probably said what I'm about to. (though this will probably be buried within the next few minutes with all the other posts to come)

Thank you Axl. This is all most of us as fans wanted. An official word to end any and all speculation. We love you as an entertainer but because of the band and youself allowing management to deal with us, the fans, it has left a taste in our mouths that is akin to bitter in the way management conducted itself. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that but all we need is communtication. Respect is a 2 way street and I really do give benefit of the doubt that yourself and the band really did not mean for the situation of management pushing what is now seen as false informantion to go so far. This just compounded all the rumours doing the rounds over the past year.

I would think steps have been taken that this never happens again. In future, if I may be so bold, may I suggest that communication continues with us, the fans, so that we are kept informed of the truth. We don't want anything solid or garaunteed. The band is active and with no new release it can seem frustrating sometimes.

I write this as a fan who has loved the music since as far back as '87 when an uncle played the "It's So Easy" 12" for me in the UK. I don't care what designer clothes you wear or who you are fucking on any given night because that's irrelevant. What is relevant is the music because music to me is a passion and for me to lable a single band my favourite is no mean feat. So please, in future don't leave it so long between talking to us, we promise we won't bite (much  Wink ) If you don't read this yourself I know others closely connected with the band do and that goes for you as well.

Again thank you and good luck,

Willie

Yeah it seems like he gets a new manager for every new phase:

late 80s/early 90s - Doug Goldstein

2002 - 2006 - Merck

2007 - beyond: Huh?

thanks axl.good job bro with the letter.its nice to hear from the "man" of rock n roll

regarding the album,i think we all knew this was coming.let's just hope that march 6 we don't get another one of these letters.what really sucks about the whole thing is that the california fans don't get to see their shows.this new gnr is a must-see so that really sucks for our fellow brothers and sisters.

what great fucking news to end the year with!i will be counting down the days till march 6.i'll have some vacation by then so i'll be able to camp out at best buy that night.lol

let's just hope that after the universal shows axl doesn't go AWOL on us for another 4yrs.

Man some of you people need to SHUT THE FUCK UP. This is awesome news. Just when everybody starts to whine about lack of communication with fans, he delivers, and people still whine. Now we finally have a date,  and he said we will be informed if it changes. No more of that "13 tuesdays" bullshit. Thanks Axl, this is the news we've ALL been fighting for. FUCK YEAH. Can't wait to see them again.
