I'm not sure why everyone is so happy to hear this. Axl is the same guy that said the album would come out this year.

wow -- clear communication! ?Great letter. ?I have been VERY down on the management's style and I'm thrilled that Axl has made the change. ?I have to confess that I wondered if there was a little bit of throwing Merck under the train here (after all, it wasn't exactly like the band wasn't going along with this for quite some time). ?BUT who cares -- the letter is very straightforward and cool. ?Clearly , someone backchanneled to Axl the fans reactions on these types of boards and he took EXACTLY the kind of action that fans wanted. ?See, fans can have a positive -- not just a negative -- influence.

this is great news, and the fact that axl put this letter out with a genuine release date or timeframe has to speak that he's damn serious about this...serious enoguh to apparently take the bulk of getting it out now directly into his hands.

This is exactly what I've been waiting for.  I literally almost burst into tears reading those words.  I've always stuck by the assertion that Merck was the shittiest manager on earth and I'm glad Axl realized it.   That was the absolute best letter he could have ever written to the fans.  He explained what was going on to the best of his ablilities, and wasn't nearly as vague as the shit we're used to.  This makes me very happy.  Thank you Axl for realizing the silence has gone on too long.  It seems like he was speaking directly to everyone on the forums and addressing the issues we've had.

Now I really do hope that March 6th is the date and it doesn't get pushed and pushed and pushed, but in the back of my mind there won't be a date until its in my hands.

Thank you Mr. William Axl Rose... that is what we all have been waiting for ... some official news of "what really is going on" with Chinese Democracy !! Was it so difficult to do ?? That's all we ask for ... not being kept in the dark! We love you man ... we love Guns N' Roses ... now we have something to wait for, instead of just ?complainig and speculating ...

On the March 6th release date issue, as I have said all along, you better wait for the record company to issue an official statement. Axl said they are still negotiating a new contract. Negotiations can break off in seconds.....not to mention that the album still has not been turned over to Interscope/Geffen.

Exactly - it's tentative.  It's a target date, all going according to plan.

Exactly. Whether you say its coming in March, or in 500 years, you have just as good of a chance being right. Until Universal actually has the album, the train doesn't leave the station.

Although Axl gives a decent timetable. We'll know in just a few weeks whether early March is feasible.
