It's so nuts how the album continues to get delayed. Hope is built up by Merck, squashed by Axl, and then built up by Axl with a tentative release date. It's as if every year we move one step closer to Chinese Democracy, while Chinese Democracy always takes 2 steps further away.
With that said, I'd like to thank Axl for writing that letter. I think it's very mature and well written, and I think a lot of fans demanding an explanation from the frontman should be happy with his response. Plus, the fact that Merck is gone and Axl actually is done says "it's coming out soon" and put a date on the album should give everyone hope to hold out for 3 more months.
So Mr. Rose, thank you very much, and I will have patience.

Im liking this letter and Axls tone in it
It is alot more humble than previous GNR press releases. Even the part where he infers the public will ultimatley decide whether or not its GNR shows humility which has been sorely lacking recently
GNR has been terribly managed under Merck so this has to be positive
not to be a cynic, but I hope Merck isnt just conveniently being made the scapegoat here because Axl couldnt get his shit together - I really hope that aint the case
Heres hoping they can make good on this latest release timeframe and get the damn thing out soon ?

Merck being gone could change the whole outlook of this band. The monkey is off of Axl's back, and it really seems like he's ready to put this fucker out and change the course of rock n' roll forever!
We're 80 days away from Chinese Democracy - it almost doesn't seem real!

Thank God that Axl plans to give the album the proper promotion that it truely deserves, as well as a video for the first single.? This letter is so well written....I've never seen anything like it.

great news it seems he was getting as frustated as us with the delays - i definitely get a sense from the letter he genuinely cares what the fans think and that was my main concern with so much silence recently, the fact it wasnt coming out before xmas wasnt the main problem it was having no idea when it was coming at least now were being kept in the picture.
it will also probably leak before the end of febuary now for all you downloading motherfuckers?

Damn I read through every post of this thread, and I do that cause before I post I want to make sure that Im understanding all , and everything.
On a personal note, this has absolutely been the best thing I read as far as CD is concerned. and I absolutely believe Axl is sincere in this statement , letter.
One of the things I didnt see people touch on was the fact that the band has ben on tour, essentially "working", now when your working you are thinking about the job you are doing, in this case MErck was someone in GNR, Axls employ to manage the business side of the endevour, while the band was "working" . And I agree I think the filter was coming from MERCk , cause he didnt want Axl to see what we the fans were saying.
BUT , with bandmates being more forward, and open to the fans, I bet your asses, that they had alot of influence in this descision.
And as Im a bit disappointed by being led on , I think Axl is more surprised that we as fans were led on also this way. And he said earlier this yr that the album would be out fall late fall.
Look at what they have been doin the band all yr. He puts his trust in his management, to deal with the technical things, so he can do his job, and that is be an artist , and perform.
So Im sure with beta and ron and richard and dizzy, and robin, tommy, and pittman, and brain, and all who are talking to fans, and understanding now that this isnt workin , I applaud Axl to take this into his own hands, and speak to us.
Its honesty , and its great. THings ned to be done right, and GUNS N ROSES have been doin thier job!.
OVer 70 shows since MAY. And they deserve a proper release. Merck may have done good in the past , but yes he dropped the ball. IMO.
And Axl is now picking it up and want to bring it to the hoops!. And dunk it.
ME Ill be there! Always .
See a bright future agin now, after clouds of shit.
Thanks Axl for talking to the fans!

If that was the case then it's a REALLY good thing that Ron is in the band... He spends enough time on the internet with fans that if the band wasn't already aware of the tense atmosphere regarding the CD comments, he would figure it out.

Pretty gutted.
Glad merck has gone but its still pretty unforgivable to wait all this time and then announce a TENTATIVE date of MARCH.
I cant understand why people are so excited though... hes said in the past "itll be out this year".. "itll be out fall"... whats the difference when he says "itll be out march"

Cause dude, its the whole tone of how the letter reads.
He for the first time pretty much said he actually "owes" us.
Ive had so many bitch fests on this forum with fans who claim "we arent owed anything"
Axl's letter proved to me that he realizes how important we as fans are and that he feels he does owe us the CD. This may sound stupid but in my opinion fans are like the extra man in a band.
U know in sports how in football fans are the 12th man etc.
Fans are a part of the band and Axl's letter confirmed to me that he knows we are alive and he appreciates us.
that is enough to keep me extremely excited.

I wonder who's going to manage the band now then? Axl himself?

WOW!! Communication with the fans!!!!! I must say i am a bit surprised.
No CD in 2006 but a proper explanation. Not enough but a good sign.
Axl never ever give out a tentative release date before. So that is an indication that they really are serious.
I concider this info as a positive one.
As far as it goes for the "Merck stunt" : The way the fans were treated when it came to a release date and general info was horrible. Axl literally blames the management for all of that. Well i don't know if Axl can honestly say that he wasn't able to stop that (
)
It seems like Axl feels like beeing fucked over by Merck which is quit surprising to me..
I wonder who will manage them now.
Anyhow : Thanks for the letter Axl.

although i am disappointed, i think this is the most positive statement i have ever heard regarding CD.
its direct and its to the point, its a very humble letter i think.
the only thing bad that can come of this is if merck files a law suit against axl for whatever reason, more problems delays??
to all those who are worreid about tentative relase of march 6th, dont worry that means it could still drop before then
axl said roughly 8 weeks from submission to release, so if the extra work gets done at the beginning of january, i think march is the month.
and if not, chill, it will be april. i dont see there being anymore hitches
