With the kick-off of its North American tour less than a month away, Audioslave has nailed down venues for most of the run.
The rock supergroup is scheduled to kick things off Sept. 24 at Bakersfield, CA's Rabobank Arena, and will canvas the U.S. and Canada until at least mid-November.
Tickets for several shows are on sale now, and those for a number of October and November stops are scheduled to hit the box office this month. Details appear in the itinerary below.
Information about ticket pre-sales is posted at Audioslave's website.
Audioslave--former Rage Against the Machine members Tom Morello (guitar), Tim Commerford (bass) and Brad Wilk (drums), and former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell--are hitting the road behind their sophomore album, "Out of Exile." Released in May, the set debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The setlist for the upcoming run will feature Audioslave originals, as well as material from the Rage and Soundgarden archives, which the group avoided during its tour behind its self-titled, 2002 debut.
As previously reported, Seether and Kasabian will occupy the tour's opening slots.
"The members of Audioslave are such a critical part of my history as a musician," Seether frontman Shawn Morgan said in a statement. "They inspired me as a kid right down to the core of how I learned to play music. The fact that I'll get to spend every night watching these guys live is the most exciting part of our getting this tour."
Seether is backing its May release, "Karma and Effect," which debuted at No. 8 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The set features the hit single "Remedy," and the soon-to-be-released follow-up cut "Truth."
Kasabian issued its self-titled debut last year, and last month released via digital-music retailers a 14-track set titled "Live from Brixton Academy," which the band recorded in December of last year. More information is posted at the group's website.

AUDIOSLAVE guitarist Tom Morello has told MTV.com that the band have already written several new tunes for the follow-up to this year's "Out of Exile", some of which AUDIOSLAVE will debut on the road this fall.
"What we're hoping to do is follow in the footsteps of some of our favorite bands, like THE BEATLES, and make more music and not have it be two or three years between albums," Morello explained to MTV.com. "We want to make a lot of music. We enjoy writing music, recording it, putting it out and touring. We're going to try and make that cycle shorter so there's a lot more AUDIOSLAVE music."
AUDIOSLAVE shot a video for the third single off "Out of Exile", "Doesn't Remind Me", last month in Los Angeles with director Chris Milk, who has previously worked with KANYE WEST and MODEST MOUSE.
"I had the idea [for the lyrics to] 'Doesn't Remind Me' the day before [the band played me the music in the studio], and it seemed like the perfect song to try out that idea," singer Chris Cornell told MTV.com. "One of the things that's very exciting to me is you have four accomplished musicians completely willing to play a three-chord song if it's a great song. That's important to me and speaks well of the band I'm in."
"When we wrote 'Out of Exile', we had a great deal of confidence in each other in the creative process, and we felt confident bringing any idea in," Morello added. "We just make music to please ourselves, and we're really happy to make a record as diverse as our various influences."

Chris Cornell, Audioslave find the message in the music
By Tom Lanham, CONTRIBUTOR
IF YOU'RE a supergroup looking for a friendly venue to road-test your latest material, you could probably find a better location than something dubbed the Anti-Imperialist Plaza.
Still, last May, that's the arena chosen by supergroup Audioslave to premiere songs from its sophomore Interscope offering, "Out of Exile."
It wasn't easy to reach. Only 90 miles away from Miami, the Plaza, in the center of Havana, Cuba, required weeks' worth of paperwork filing and last-minute OKs from the U.S. Treasury Department and Fidel Castro's iron-fisted government. Such an iffy proposition, in fact, that it wasn't even announced until two days before the actual show.
But the experience proved more pro than con, says Audioslave's Chris Cornell, who was stunned when a crowd of roughly 70,000 turned out to see him. Castro did his part to rain on the parade, appearing on national television daily to decry American policies.
"He just complained and complained the whole time we were there. He talks on TV every day, and he can do it for as much time as he wants," sighs Cornell, whose gale-force singing voice proved more influential.
"But it didn't make any difference in terms of how our day went, because nobody there cared where we were from. They just liked the fact that we were coming there and doing what we do. It was a cultural thing, an artistic thing."
The performance, captured on the upcoming CD/DVD "Live in Cuba," featured hits from Audioslave's double-platinum eponymous debut ("Gasoline," "Set It Off," "I Am the Highway") as well as dusty classics from Cornell's former Seattle outfit Soundgarden ("Outshined," "Spoonman," "Black Hole Sun").
Cornell even tried his hand at "Bulls on Parade," a signature anthem from the defunct Rage Against the Machine, originally shrieked by Zach De La Rocha (whose unexpected departure from Rage five years ago prompted the remaining members to reconvene with old chum Cornell as Audioslave).
Cornell notes that tickets were free, but no T-shirts were allowed to be sold because "you can't take their money out, so going to Cuba to make money is not how it works."
It begs the question, why Cuba? Easy, replies Cornell. "It seemed like an exciting thing to do. And then it turned out that it was a really exciting thing to do, a fantastic thing to do."
Aside from recent Havana appearances from Britain's Manic Street Preachers and Rick Wakeman, Cornell says, "Those people there don't get to see anyone. We were one of the only rock bands that's ever been there."
If more groups start going, Cornell thinks, the cultural embargo could be changed. He says, "If they got used to it, we could have Cuban musicians coming to the U.S. and U.S. performers going there, and not just for some rich person's ? or politician's ? party."
Cornell's first impressions upon touching down? Being struck, he says, by the country's extreme poverty, contrasted with the warmth of its arts-hungry populace. Audioslave didn't get an audience with Castro. But Cornell, drummer Brad Wilk, bassist Tim Commerford and guitarist Tom Morello (who with System of a Down's Serj Tankian runs the activist organization Axis of Justice) were shuttled to some eye-opening sites.
"Like this art college, the top music school in the country," Cornell recalls. "We got there, and all the musicians were there, including these three dudes who also on the side had a little jazz combo they wanted to rock us with. And they had almost nothing ? they don't even have drumsticks and guitar strings, so what they're playing is usually scotch-taped together with a lotta love. But they just blew us away ? we were standing there in disbelief."
Audioslave (whose new stateside jaunt kicks off this Sunday at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco) watched dumbfounded every night as hundreds of locals converged along a Havana waterway, then split off into small acoustic-based combos to strum favorite folksongs.
They felt sympathy for a sickly dog limping outside their hotel, which they renamed Little Audio before paying for all of its veterinary bills ("We did everything we could do except take him apart and rebuild him," sighs Cornell. "But he eventually died.")
And they were touched by the true-blue devotion of a Cuban DJ who had somehow procured a stack of obscure Rage and Soundgarden sides. During an interpreter-translated interview, the radio station domo stood up and made a tearful proclamation: "He read this long statement about how important it was for Audioslave to come and how much it meant to him and how important the music of Rage and Soundgarden was to him. He went on and on, and when you see someone who's that moved by the fact that you're there, and you can see in that person's being that what you've done has really helped him get through the day, year after year, well ..." and Cornell almost chokes up himself just remembering the man.
Visiting Cuba underscored some creative truths Cornell had first understood as a pre-Soundgarden teen, back when he had no money, no opportunities and was working as a dishwasher, living and breathing music: that art is not only universal, but it also often has its strongest roots in the poorest of communities. "And that's the thing that's so incredible about music," he says. "There is no class system that reaches music completely. Anybody can participate in it, and some of the most talented people come from places where they had nothing else going on."
Onstage, Cornell is a powerhouse, one of the most definitive voices in modern rock. Offstage, he's the opposite ? shy, thoughtful, soft-spoken, uneasy with strangers and backstage meet-and-greets. He has a 5-year-old daughter, Lily, with his first wife, former Soundgarden manager Susan Silver, and another daughter, Toni, who just turned 1, with his new wife Vicky, a publicist he met two years ago in Paris (with whom he's expecting a son in November).
And his Soundgarden and early Audioslave lyrics have been just as quietly personal, nothing remotely similar to De La Rocha's loudly liberal lines.
Despite the humanitarian lessons learned from Cuba, Cornell concludes, "I don't in any way ever want to be divisive. That's something ? as a fan of music, art, literature and movies ? that I've always found annoying."

Mike Ross of The Edmonton Sun is reporting that AUDIOSLAVE helped a Canadian fan propose to his girlfriend onstage during the group's performance at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta Saturday night (Oct. 1). The band issued backstage passes, signed a congratulatory photo, provided a magnum of champagne and even got the couple on stage, where an arena full of rock fans witnessed Kelsey Brennan popping the question to his blushing soon-to-be-bride, Ashley Kraus.
The 21-year-old software designer says it was the scariest thing he's ever done ? next to getting her parents' blessing.
"I'd say talking to her parents was probably scarier than being in front of 11,000 people," Brennan said. "I thought I was going to be nervous, but I just yelled into the microphone, 'Edmonton!' The crowd went nuts. I said, 'I want to introduce you to a very special lady, my girlfriend Ashley Kraus. She came up and I said, 'I can think of no better way to ask the love of my life to spend eternity together than to do it on stage in front of tens of thousand of people with the best fucking band in the world!'
"Ashley was so speechless she could barely say yes, but I knew it was yes because she dug her fingers into the box and pulled out the ring herself."

Thorazine, if you'll look at Malcolm's setlist, you'll see that they play one Temple song: Call Me A Dog. I wish they would play 'Wooden Jesus'. Oh well. Do any of you guys have DirecTV? On their Free View channel, they are having Audioslave in Cuba. I seen their advertisement. It shows the band on and off stage during their trip. Its an hour long. I haven't watched it yet, but I'll try to watch it tomorrow.

Launch Radio Networks reports: Although AUDIOSLAVE features three former members of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, AUDIOSLAVE's music has stayed away from the heavy political content of RAGE's songs. But bassist Tim Commerford told Launch that he feels AUDIOSLAVE's involvement in events like its recent trip to Cuba has made the band more politically active than RAGE ever was. "In RAGE, we tried to go to Cuba and play, and we were not able to get on the same page as a band to do it," he said. "I feel like we dropped the ball big time in RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE. And here we are with AUDIOSLAVE, maybe not as overtly political as RAGE, but we are doing things. We're playing Cuba, we're playing Live 8, we're playing the Katrina benefit. We're doing with AUDIOSLAVE, and that's a great feeling."
In addition to Commerford, AUDIOSLAVE also features ex-RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello and drummer Brad Wilk, along with former SOUNDGARDEN singer Chris Cornell.
AUDIOSLAVE's "Live In Cuba" DVD, which documents the band's historic trip to Cuba last May as the first American rock band to play a concert in the embargoed country, was released on Tuesday (October 11).
AUDIOSLAVE is currently on a North American tour that brings them to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma tonight (Friday, October 14).
