Official AC/DC Thread

AC/DC have started writing for their next album which may be released in 2004.
Fifa Riccobono, CEO of Albert Productions, has confirmed to Undercover that songs have been written for the next record but the band is yet to start recording.
While some incorrect information surfaced last week claiming AC/DC have the second biggest selling album in the world with Back In Black, Fifa points out that Back In Black has more than 40 million worldwide.
The title is also Acca Dacca's biggest album in Australia, with Highway To Hell and Live in second and third place. Back in Black has sold almost 900,000 units in Australia and total Australian sales for the catalogue is now over 5.5 million.
Last week they issued a retraction to their original press release saying "The AC/DC press release sent out on the 28th Jan included a statement that the RIAA had certified Back In Black as the second highest selling album in the world . It has come to our attention that this was inaccurate as the RIAA can only certify USA not worldwide sales. Whilst combined world sales of Back In Black are in excess of 40 million there is no international body that certifies world sales".
AC/DC fans can look forward to a new hybrid CD/DVD version of Back In Black soon. It is a double sided disc with the CD on one side and the DVD on the other.
But don't hold your breath waiting for a best of AC/DC, Fifa says it isn't going to happen. "They guys aren't interested in a best of. They never have been" she says. "They have had a wonderful philosophy. They don't like compilation albums and have always turned them down."
The band is also loath to put their music to advertising although they have agreed to certain products that fit with their audience. In Australia, Holden has used three songs for advertisements. 'Are You Ready', 'Thunderstruck' and 'Back In Black' have been used in three separate Holden ads but that isn't AC/DC you have been hearing in the commercials. It is a very good cover band.
AC/DC have also allowed their music to be included in various movies although they have never endorsed the movies. Most recently 'It's A Long Way To The Top' was used in Jack Black's 'School of Rock'. You Am I and Tex Perkins recorded a version of 'Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap' for the Brian Brown / John Goodman film 'Dirty Deeds' and the songs of AC/DC will also feature in the upcoming movie Thunderstruck. The movie is about five friends who decide to visit the grave of Bon Scott after a near death experience.

the stones are overated today, waaaaay to greedy and purely in in for the money and not for the fans IMO. they are up there with the beatles in record sales and genuine popularity that has never faded or dwindled over 40 years of records. I do have to admit they bombed at SARSstock though

Cool, always like their guitar riffs. Just curious, when was their last album? I remember Stiff Upper Lip in 2000, also, how often do they put out records? Thanks.

Yes, that was in 2000.

Ballbreaker
was released in 1995. The last studio album before that was
The Razor's Edge
in 1990. They did release a live album in 1992 and the
Bonfire
boxset in 1997.
But the spacing between their studio albums since 1990 has been 5 years. And it's been four since
Stiff Upper Lip
.

Yeah, up until the 1990s, they pretty much released an album every 1-2 years.

And I've got them all...[yes] [smoking]
Except TNT, cos I'm not Australian, and I haven't got the single disc
Live
album, only the double. But I have got two versions of SUL, one with an extra bonus disc of like 6 live songs and a couple of videos. And there's a
Jailbreak
EP which you missed off the list.
Edit
: I haven't got the
Bonfire
Boxset either yet....that means I'm three short...

I'm not too sure about being underrated, maybe WAY OVERRATED!!! I wonder if they're new album will sound the same as every other album they put out. They just can't seem to come up with anything new. The worst song I have ever heard is by them, "I Feel safe in NYC". That song fucking sucks. Sorry if I offend any hardcore acdc fans, but you deserve to be offended for liking such a shitty band.

Same here. No point in owning the single disc if you've got the double, because it's merely an abbreviated version.

Shit! I forgot that one! The list has been amended.

Overrated by whom? Just about every rock n' roll fan on the planet?
Coming from someone who flies to different cities to see Blink 182 (renowned for their live brilliance) that is pretty lame. Back In Black probably sold more copies than the entire Blink catalogue so...hush.
Diz, what's the tracklisting of TNT? (cos i'm too lazy to type it into google)
Because I remeber reading ages ago that the EU release of High Voltage was actually a mix between the Aussie releases of TNT and High Voltage. But I never got round to checking up on it.

They fired him in 1994. According to an AC/DC site I once came across, the band wanted to get back to their "original drum feel". They made it a point to praise the work Slade had done for them, and explained to him that the decision to let him go was made for the interests of the band, and had nothing to do with him personally. Original AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd had cleaned himself up, so they hired him back.
Phil Rudd had been fired in 1983 due to excessive drug use, irresponsible behavior with women, and a physical altercation with one of the band members (whose name was not given). His behavior had been a hindrance to the band and their touring. Phil was replaced by Simon Wright, who later quit and was replaced by Chris Slade.
Anywho, I'm glad Phil is back, because he was the original and is an incredible drummer. I always felt Chris Slade was a mediocre drummer at best. Simon Wright was slightly better, but still no Phil Rudd.
