From RS Rock&Roll Daily Today

 * Guns N? Roses? April 27th and May 1st festival in South Africa (the first ever for the band) look increasingly less likely to come in support of the release of Chinese Democracy. Remember March 6th? It?s now a month away.

-- Rolling Stone

As far as I know, an album doesn't have to come out on that exact date to be able to be supported by live shows in April or May.

It just seems that for RS, it's impossible to understand that.

This is the perfect album cover. They just need to update it ok

And CD is not coming out on march 6th, so no one should even look forward to that date.

Is that thing actually coming out?

They were meaning supporting the release of the album, not the album itself. I think everyone knows they've been playing shows in support of this album for the last 6 years.

I'm sure the Best Of will come out eventually. They can get another cover though and use that one for CD hihi

So if the album is out before the first South African date, the date isn't in support of the release of the album?

The people at Rolling Stone are asshats.? I wouldn't listen to anything they speculate.

They are "asshats", but they may be correct asshats this time around...? Undecided

At this point it's easy for anyone to point to GN'R and say "The album ain't finished.? It ain't coming out on (x) date."

I agree with you 100%. ?In fact, I can't stand Rolling Stone and/or their shot in the dark speculating. I was more or less sharing some of my threads of doubt when it comes to the tentative release date of March 6th. ?I'm still holding onto the thought of hearing an update sometime very soon, but but with each passing day, I don't know what to think. ?I still have faith that we'll hear something either way soon enough, right Huh?

The past 2 Chinese Democracy tours have been in support of the album, not the release like normal tours. We have no idea when the album is going to be released so as of now it couldn't be a show supporting the release of CD when there is no release date for CD. As of now this is not supporting an album release... but it can change at any moment if a release date is announced. Grin

The way the RS thing was written, it seems they assumed it's not coming on March 6th and therefore the shows aren't in support of the release.

The way I see it, there's plenty of time to release the album before those shows. Something RS didn't even bother mentioning.

RS is most likely right about 06/03 not happening, but that doesn't mean the album can't get released in the 6 weeks between then and the SA gigs.

Seems like RS is back with a vengeance after their 06 prediction went down the drain.

look increasingly less likely

... what did they say wrong?  It's two lines, not a full-page article trashing Axl for not having the album out on March 6th.  They didn't say it was impossible that the shows were to support the album.

They didn't predict anything. GnR' management stated (jokingly or not) the album would be out in December.

Well, they focused on a tentative release date saying it's only a month away and the shows are less likely to be in support of the album's release.

I don't agree.

If the shows were on, for example, March 6th and 8th, then they'd have a point in my opinion.

So Jarmo, you are basically saying you no longer believe in March 6th as the release date?

I take the tentative release date for what it is.

I don't expect to have the album in the stores on that exact date. I don't count down the days and hours to March 6th like some do and I won't get pissed off at the band if the album isn't out by then.

A lot of things need to fall into place to get the album out and I suspect it's being worked on.

I believe they're trying hard to get it out ASAP and that's enough for me.

Theres no way its coming out on the 6th. These South African dates are more likely than not going to be similar to the shows we all experienced last year in Europe and America. It doesnt make sense to release the album and start a tour in South Africa/South America/Asia. Axl said CD is going to get a proper release, that means press in the major American cities, over to Europe for promo then tour. Its going to come out in June or July, they are probably pencilled in all the big summer festivals across Europe, if they want to reach as many people as possible once the album is released then they will be stupid not to do the European festival circuit. Do it in the same way as it was done in 2002, ie have a mini tour in between the festival shows, then go back over to the US, major tour, then add in South America, Australia, then Asia - basically go around the world in that general direction - playing lots of new material.

South Africa doesnt exactly get spoilt music wise, they are going to want to hear old Guns stuff, Europeans and Americans, the ones who have experienced this band playing the old stuff are the ones who will want/demand new stuff on the next tour!

Seems like RS is back with a vengeance after their 06 prediction went down the drain.

Rolling Stones stating the album was coming in 2006 WAS NOT a prediction, that came from Axl's mouth at least twice last year :
1) He said on Eddie Trunk that it was coming "Fall..late fall."
2) He even reiterated the whole "it is this year" at the VMA's.

I was gonna say he told RS in January of 2006, but actually, I think his exact words were "people will hear music this year." So, I'll be real fair and not count that one. I'm sure if I do, someone will jump in saying I don't know what I'm talkin about.

I agree that there is absolutley no way this album is coming on March 6th. How do I know that for sure?? Well, again, cos Axl said the album would be promoted properly. I think most people figured that whole "tentative date" didn't mean shit. It's not the fact that the album is not coming on March 6th that bothers me. It's the fact that the album was SUPPOSED to drop last year and it didn't cos his manager couldn't deliver the album that Axl is still working on?? Does anyone else here find this odd?? Now, we're here months later wondering if/when we'll ever get the release date. I think Guns first single should be a cover of Tom Petty's "The Waiting". I mean, it seems fitting... no?? ?Shocked

No one has confirmed that Axl is still working on the record at all. We've had the usual amount of "insiders" telling us that Axl has this and that recording studio booked and so on but none of that is confirmed.

The "minor" things he referred to in the letter could be anything.
