ENOUGH ENOUGH there's two things people are forgeting AXL SAID WE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN ITS COMING OUT AND IF IT ITS DELAYED AGAIN. ?WE havent heard anything so the album or contract neogations are not done. ?Im sure it takes time to finalize marketing and promote of the CD that's why he said it takes 8 weeks well it could be very possible that 6 out of the 8 weeks is just planning and setting things up and then the last 6 weeks commericals, Single, Radio play, ect WE DON'T REALLY KNOW SO WE SHOULDN'T JUST SIT HERE AND MAKE STUFF UP. ?When its ready its ready and then the band will want us to listen to it. ?

People saying that Axl shouldn't give updates because March 6th is only a tenative date, are still not answering the important question. After a decade of never ever stating a release date, Why in the hell would Axl even say 3/6/07 , tenative or not, if he wasn't atleast 90% sure that it would drop that day. I mean after so many years of silence, you might as well stay silent, because it's better than personally (his own words) letting down your fans.
To explain why the Jan tour dates canceled and to obviously buy more time is my theory/opinion.
Ok i may just be pissed but if gets it out anytime in march then ill let those canceled shows go but if it doesnt come out which i have no faith at all that it will ill be happy thats all i ask.

I am not sure how this works but how would Interscope? or Geffen or whoever is releasing CD handle other acts that are coming out at the same time (presuming March 6th or the 20th is now the date).? Would they push back those acts to focus only on GNR considering this album is presumed to be "long awaited"?

I understand that it takes awhile for marketing, record company negotiations, etc. ?But if Axl truly thought the record was going to come out by last December. ?Wouldn't some of that stuff have been completed in advance of 2007??? ?It's not like the songs on CD haven't been sitting around for years. ?

Exactly. Nice thinking.
I can only say that Merck was probably in charge of this and things fell apart between Axl and Merck. Hence Merck's departure.

Mercks departure is turning out to be a negative. Its obivious he was just a scapegoat.
If its Axls intentiob to actually release this album then why the hell are we hearing tenative tour dates for Spring of '07? Now in the past I would answer that question by saying that these dates are encouraging because that means that the album will be released prior to or during this Spring jaunt. But I cant say that with any confidence these days. If they go on tour again then we are the biggest fools in the world. Bar None. If that album is not in our hands by March-June, and they go on tour then seriously we are the biggest dopes alive. Every single one of us.
Merck is missed because Axl cant do all this shit on his own. The guy is still fukin around with the album. If he really wanted to release the album sometime last yr like he stated then why has he been in vegas, la, or ny or whereever he is still tinkering with the album? The album, artwork, and everything else should be completed already. Axl should be focusing on contracts, and promotional stuff with the label by now. I just get the feeling hes not really doing much of that at this point in time.
Its just getting really old. Its the same bullshit every yr. Im not saying Axl wont come thru by march/april but if not then its just a joke. But usually when the rumors are flying, theres some kind of truth to them. When theres smoke theres fire. And the sad thing us the joke isnt him, its us....

Let's see...
I just can't think of anything...
Wait!!! Let's look back at 2006....
I thought we were going "to hear music this year"
He sounded so confident on the Eddie Trunk show didn't he?
The tour seemed promising too...
So did Merck's statements "There's only 13 tuesday's left in the year"
And that was just the tip of the iceberg...
Should I go back to 2002 to further prove my point?

NO, THAT ARGUMENT HAS BEEN MADE A THOUSAND TIMES-LITERALLY!
Youngun, as Dylan would say....
"I started out on burgundy
But soon hit the harder stuff
Everybody said they'd stand behind me
When the game got rough
But the joke was on me
There was nobody even there to call my bluff
I'm going back to New York City
I do believe I've had enough

You haven't answered the question.
The question is about the present and near future and not about the past.
however,
2002 soon was not the word and those who were waiting were advised not to wait.
(I wasn't even aware of this whole Chinese thing yet.)
2006 people would hear music.
so did we. there were shows and new songs.
(Still My wait hadn't started until a tentative date was given.)

And Bad Religion have announced the release date of their album...its out at the end of June. Oh dear. but thyen theyll get hardly any promo except maybe in 1 or 2 european countries. and theyll sell bout 10 copies of the album.
But itll be better than all except a handful of others this year.Opinion? No. Verifiable fact, no less lol!
Sorry, i had a point somewhere, but i seem to have lost it.

It's quite obvious at this point that Axl is simply scared to release the fucking thing. Even if it comes out in March or sometime shortly there after, the years of delays are really indicative of his insecurity about its release. It does not take an Einsten to figure this out. He has always been a huge success and he knows that a sub par performance of this thing and critical pans can deliver a big hit to his reputation.

why are so many people ignoring the most important phrase in Axl's open letter in December 2006: "as well as contract negotiations." Does anyone think these will be easy with the record company in light of the number of advances come and gone on the recording of this opus? You better believe there are some very thorny negotiations to be had about how royalties and marketing costs will be apportioned on this album.

You're missing my point. If the contract negotiations are so "difficult" and time consuming, then why would Axl even dangle a tenative release date in front of us. Also, I'm a huge fan of Axl Rose, but I hate it when people make exscuses for Axl possibly being late on the release. The dude is a 44 year old rich professional singer who has tons of fans that want to hear CD, it's about time he got his ass in gear and quits going to nightclubs until it's done. He had 13 years to hit clubs. BRING ON THE MUSIC!!

Wait!!! Let's look back at 2006....

I clearly answered the question. I used observations/facts/instances, what ever you want to call them, from the past to make my assumption for the present and future. That is how it should be done. Basing future decisions off past experiences makes sense. Blindly believing in some one, after being let down year after year, does not.
And in 2002, soon was the word. In fact in 2001 Axl told the crowd at Rio "We'll be back next summer with a whole bunch of new songs".
To make a bold claim like you did about the 2002
Chinese Democracy
World Tour and then say you weren't "even aware of this whole Chinese thing yet" leads me to believe that you don't really know what you are talking about
When Axl said we would "hear music this year", he meant Chinese Democracy.
Even though your "wait" just began, I have a feeling you'll be sticking around till next year

Axl knew as far back as August or September the album wasn't coming out last year, he just couldn't say anything publicly about it because it might have jeopardized ticket sales for the tour.
He did need an excuse for why he didn't live up to his word, so they made Merck the scape goat and blamed it all on him.
March 7th was probably just an arbitrary date that seemed realistic at the time. I think Axl knew he had to make it seem somewhat close to being done, because he knew that had he said sometime during the summer months after failing to deliver it last year after he promised that there would have been a backlash among the hardcore fans.
He knew full well people would be more understanding of another delay after the dissapointment of last year had a chance to simmer than if he had let everyone know in December not only that the album wasn't coming last year as promised, but it really wasn't that close after all.
