They use the Geffen/Interscope name interchangeably....but that's just my suspicion.

Thanks for clearing that up, Pilferk. It puts me off a bit that even MTV might get Geffen and Interscope mixed up, but that's probably a side-effect of Geffen 'merging' into Interscope, then gearing up their own branch again...

So, am I getting this right now:

-1999: GNR was at Geffen
1999-2003: Geffen became a part of Interscope, GNR now nominally at Interscope
2003-: Geffen relaunch, GNR likely at Geffen?

While I'm at it, I might as well ask what does this Billboard listing for GH mean? Geffen is listed as 'imprint', while Interscope is the 'distributing label'.

The timeline is right.

I'm not sure on the Billboard listing.  I've seen it both ways in different places.....I'm not sure if Billboard is just using the old designation or what.

Well, we are now exactly 6 weeks away from March 6 ! So, with that said, what do you guys/gals think the next thing we will hear from Axl/ the band / or there Management will be ? Confirmation the Cd is done and will hit store shelves as expected ? There will be another delay ? No word, just a single ? More silence, perhaps? Maybe we'll walk into our record store "one Tuesday" and find it there ? What do you think?   Wink

Chinese Democracy will not be in stores on March 6. The next thing we will hear from Axl is a batch of excuses for why he didn't meet the March 6 date and the release will be pushed back even further. And forget a single  rofl ; the only thing we will be hearing is silence.

As I see it there will either be a statement about a new date, an official date, or we hear nothing until next year.

The rational excuse is that there wasn't enough time between the end of the last tour and the 2 month turn-around to get the album out for March 6th.

The last day of the tour was December 20th, 2006, while 2 months to the day of March 6th, 2007 is January 9th, 2007.

Therefore, using Axl's reasoning in the letter, he was essentially only leaving himself 3 weeks from the end of the tour to finish the album and get it into the label for distribution, if his "it takes two months to get the album to the shelves" comment is in fact true.

Certainly not alot of time to finish up a masterpiece, especially to the standards of a known perfectionist, which to me, more than explains why we haven't heard a peep of information since the release of Axl's letter.. Undecided

It appears that GnR' will be touring come April, so expect an official statement in February or March. In that statement I would also expect an update on CD and maybe an official release date.

Axl mentioned that the March 6 date is tentative, which means he doesn't need to release a statement regarding excuses for that date.  ok

So this will be the third Chinese Democracy tour without the album?

meanwhile, ganon1990, can you answer russtcb's question.

On ultimate guitar, Linkin' park has issued a release stuff.

regarding there next album.

They are now mixing it and their new single will be released in March, so if they are mixing their album now and releasing an single in march,

I think desame should've happend with GNR. but hasn't

I still have some hopes for March but after I read the post.

I guess when we have a word on the mxing from Gnr we can safe put a single release a date further and an album like 2 months further(if the axl still doing stuff) are true

People saying that Axl shouldn't give updates because March 6th is only a tenative date, are still not answering the important question. ?After a decade of never ever stating a release date, Why in the hell would Axl even say 3/6/07 , tenative or not, if he wasn't atleast 90% sure that it would drop that day. ?I mean after so many years of silence, you might as well stay silent, because it's better than personally (his own words) letting down your fans. ?

To explain why the January tour dates cancelled, to make people stop bitching, and to obviously buy more time is my theory/opinion. But it's backfiring because people are bitching now Undecided

If it was to buy more time, you would think he would have said something like April or May.  Something apparently more realistic.
