What did I miss?

Axl said March 6, and has said nothing since.? Why is everyone doubting this projected release date?

That's easy. There's no promotion whatsoever indicating this album will be out in like 35 days. That's why so many are doubting.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with continuing to believe in the 3/6/07 date though- as it is true that Axl has said nothing to the contrary since his last statement. It just seems to cast the whole Merck firing in a different light though- if Axl releases 3/6/07 with no proper promotion, etc. when that was the whole reason Merck got axed. Huh

1) that wasn't the whole reason, judging from the letter.
2) the letter doesn't say how long it takes once the official date is announced or leaked.
Is a promotion starting, say a month prior to a release not proper?

So like you said, it still could go either way.

Although it was great to get an explanation from Axl's own mouth on everything, March 6 to him was just wishful thinking. That was his proposed date, but really...a lot depends on how much work was actually redone in the last 6 weeks, and even more so, the schedule of the record label.

There's nothing currently in the Sunday circular ads for March 4th or March 11th for GnR.
I would guess if they do have tour plans in April or May, that would be a better guess as to when the album will see the light of day.

Well according to Ron, its done.

I think we are worrying a little bit too much. I dont think it will be March 6th, but a short time after that it will be released. Remember Axl said approximately 8 weeks, not 8 weeks to the day.
Also, some bands wait for like a month or so before they actually start touring in support of their album. Maybe thats what Guns will do.

True, I guess.

But this time, Ron's exact words were "I've been working on Q-Ball's album and we finally finished it up and it sounds pretty nice." hihi

It'd be nice if on Axl's birthday he let us know some things. I always said Feb 6th, a month from March 6th, we needed to have something...

Why not get this big official release date and pressue off your back on your birthday, STRESS FREE!  beer

I'm curious why Axl would 1) publicly proclaim 3/6/07 as the tenative release date 2) Bring up the whole 8 week thing about a record being released --- and then not speak for a month and a half (way past the 8th week mark).  It seems that a lot of people have lost faith in that date being the release date (assuming that it's been pushed back again -- Why would he pick a date that apparently wasn't possible to reach?? I mean he knows a lot of people are fed up with waiting, if he would have just said sometime in April he could have saved many people dissapointment once again.  TO CLARIFY, THIS IS All ASSUMING THAT 3/6/07 WON'T BE THE RELEASE DATE!!

Just outta curiosity, does anyone know if that dude from mygnr that had like 5,000 posts and stated he heard a finished studio track, and that we would hear the same either the 2 or 3rd week of January, ever came back to explain himself. Just curious Huh

I was wondering that myself. I guess it turned out to be BS.

That was really foolish if he just made that up. Talk about losing all credibility.   rant

well....   he was either fooled by his "contact", it was(is) actually true, or it was just an ALL-IN as D called it hihi

Yep. I read that same opinion at thenewguns.com. It's looking like  one of those two things is true.

those were three possibilities hihi

the ALL-IN being him trying to become an insider by fully believing in axl`s tentative date....
