Its something different and will be a big surprise

At this point I think we are all only going to be happy when we have just one thing.... CD in our hands.

Although I can be completely off base here, I do not see Axl meeting his March 6th timetable or any date in March for that matter. If he comes back and announces that the album, contracts, and any other "mnor details", etc are completed and turned over to the label with an actual release date for lets say April or even May then of course all will be forgiven. But I have very little hope for that kind of scenario. I used to but not so much anymore.

I have all the faith in Axl, this band, and this album. And when released it will probably one of the best albums of our time. But the problem or pattern I see is that Axl is scared. He cant get over that final hump. Im sure he has had every sincere intention to release this album on many different occasions. But IMO he just cant let go. He cant complete the final stage. Hes got so much pressure and his career is pretty much riding on this album. A lot of it is his fault but despite that, I understand his perspective. I just wish he could just say fuck it lets roll. idk im not there so i dont know but its just my viewpoint

anyways March isnt looking good..bring on mid april/May...hey before you know it the black friday rumors/ideas/strategy will be back for a nice, efficient, max sales release in Nov.....

I agree with you up until the last line. I truly believe we will get the album well before Fall. I'm still hoping things are on track for March. We will know soon due to proper promotion timespans running out.

shortly after. in early spring.

March 6 is merely a tentative date. it is not a promise, a lie or a guarantee.

http://news.aol.com/entertainment/music/articles/_a/guns-n-roses-and-the-case-of-the-missing/20061121124409990001

I found this statement on AOL. Not sure how valid it is but...

"David Geffen's record company was the label for 'Democracy' for many unrewarding years, finally washing their hands of it by tossing it to Interscope. "

"But as the weeks have gone by since then, the band's label, Interscope Records, has stayed silent, and Rose has not mentioned the album publicly on the band's extensive US tour." - Mp3.com

"In January 1999 Seagram orchestrated a massive restructuring of its music division, firing 110 Geffen employees, including Mr. Rosenblatt, and folding the unit into the corporation's bigger Interscope Records division. The unfinished album was placed in the hands of Interscope's chairman, Jimmy Iovine." - NY Times

"Jimmy Iovine (head of Interscope) has heard as many as 6 finished tracks off of Chinese Democracy. Interscope would like to get this album out soon? hopefully before the end of the year." - Mark Strigl

"Interscope has taken "Chinese Democracy" off its schedule." - NY Times

"Representatives for both Geffen and Interscope, the two labels most likely to release Chinese Democracy, said they know nothing about a release date for the album or even which label might put it out. " - MTV

---

I don't believe it... the record company execs are just as confused as we are!  rofl

haha but sse the dates. that was before Jimmy Iovine's comment on 09/06 about 6 finished tracks.
cd will most likely come out under interscope, it seems.
thanks sic! very useful date.  rofl

Best of luck to axl! peace

Younggunner - Very well said. I completely agree that it's no longer a matter of more studio time being needed, or management who doesn't know what they're doing, or lawsuits from previous members of the band. IMO, this is soley about Axl second guessing how good this album is again and again. I also think this will be one of the greatest rock albums of all time once it's released, but if Axl doesn't let go sometime soon, we may be having very similar discussions in 2009.? ? Embarrassed

yeah, not a chance! He was in Vegas with a booked recording studio, now he is in NY with, if you believe the rumours a recording studio booked for a further 2 months.
Jonx

I hadn't heard that particular rumor.

Was the rumor specific as to WHICH studio he was booked in, in NYC?  I have a friend who is a sound engineer in NYC...he might be able to "confirm or deny" with some well placed phone calls.

Also....just a heads up....he had a studio booked leading up to the '06 Euro tour, too.  They were using it for rehersal.  Just something to think about....

Could be for rehersal, if this is to be the actualy CD tour then they need to rehearse all the new stuff so that they can play it live, id imagine that will take some time!

Drat!

I wish the guy would have been a bit more specific about WHICH studio, specifically, Axl might have booked (though, given the way he got the info, I doubt Axl was that specific).

Oh well....guess we wait and see.

Somebody tell Eddie Trunk he needs to get Axl on his show!  Maybe invite Baz to stop by again....

You know what...if the album is released shortly after March 06 (by shortly I mean a couple of months), then's thats all cool by me, but if we get another 'fall, late fall' then I'm thinking this whole thing is one big fucking joke.

Agreed !  Now, that Axl has finally given us a "tentative" release date, going back to saying things like "fall, late fall" or "soon" would be a definite step backwards. I'd bet anything the earliest we see the album now is early summer.

Ya know, I was just re-listening to that Eddie Trunk interview Axl did in May 06 (I believe), and just by his whole tone and several mentions of how it's definitely this year (2006), I can't believe it's 9 monthas later and he's supposedly still in the studio putting the finishing touches on the album. Although, he never said album was done during the interview, he did make it sound as though there were just some very minor things left to wrap up. He sounded very positive and upbeat about the whole thing. Now, here we are in January 2007 and nothing but silence. Maybe "soon" still isn't the word??   Embarrassed

Quote
If the album isn't coming out on the tentative release date, it would make no sense to make an announcement saying "We're sorry to announce that Chinese Democracy will not be released on the previously announced tentative release date. At this point we have no final release date due to (insert reason here)".

You know I'm a huge fan of Axl's always have been, but I am not a fan of nonsense and that is all his "tentative release date" statement was.  I don't want to hear any more excuses or delays or bullsh--, just finish whatever needs to be done and get it out.  Bands release albums everyday, it's not the monumental task it's been made out to be.  I don't want any more "press releases" from Axl, I want to hear it from the record company.

What I find frightening is, if Axl is that far removed from reality that he really believed he would have it out in March, then perhaps he really is incapable of handing over the album on his own.  He really needs all the "yes" people around him removed and someone has to take control here.  I don't know if that is even possible.
