There is no way this album is coming out on March 6th.

A single would have to be released by Tuesday or so and I just dont see that happening.

Maybe we'll get some news next Tuesday, on Axl's birthday... Who knows?

Cmon people. You've waited so fuckin long, what's 2-3-4 weeks longer?

Some of us have waited sooo long that 2-3-4 yrs longer wouldn't be much!

So we will either hear nothing and album is on track or we hear a "it's been delayed to such and such a date".

Either way it's good.

If it is delayed then we get more communication from Axl.

And if we don't hear anything then to me that means album will be out in Spring. peace

This is what keeps me going...come March 6th he has to say something to save face from fans and media alike. And another 'tentative' date will be just one step too far in lameness imo. He's probably doing everything in his power to ensure we have a confirmed release date by Marcch 6th.

One thing that I do feel good about is, the next time that we do hear a statement, I believe we will get a firm release date. Unfortunately, I don't think it will be as soon as most of us hope. I wouldn't be at all shocked to hear July, 20 years after AFD. I really hope I'm wrong.

While we all hope for the best, it's no disservice to ourselves to include a little reality into this situation.  To those who say that silence is golden, one wonders if you're choosing not to see the woods from the trees.  The fact that nothing has been heard at this point can't be good for a March 6th release.  If March 6th is the day, Universal would have it on their release schedules by now (a notice of confirmation would have been issued).  I don't mean to be a killjoy, but I think if you're banking on having Chinese Democracy by early March you're setting yourself up for certain disappointment.  I remember how many people on here and other boards use to post how they were 100% positive that they'd have the new album by the end of 2006.  Even by the middle of December you could find people promising that they'd have it by Christmas.  I'm starting to see the same thing based soley on what Axl wrote in his letter.  I think being releastic about the process and being negative are two different things.  I think Axl and the band are doing everything in their power to release an album their happy with, but I don't think you can start the eight week countdown until a single is released.

Use your Illusions, but don't be deluded.

Cheers,

Andrew

Again, absolutely agree.  Being realistic and being negative are two separate things.  Saying this album isn't coming in March is being realistic.   no

no it`s not....  it`s just the most obvious thing to say right now.... nothing more...

i said it numerous times before, we have no idea what`s going on. all we`re doing is speculating, relying on rumours from more or less credible sources and the knowledge from some people who think they?re experts on this matter...

we`ll have to wait and see....  the letters from merck and axl should`ve proven to anyone, that  news/ information/ rumours, which aren`t directly coming from the band/ management/ the label are bullshit for the most part peace

My gut feeling, and I want to iterate I'm not speculating here, is that come March 6th Axl won't have finished up but will want to give a date...so he will make it this year but a little further than we were expecting...maybe August / Septmber

But I hope to god I have this album for the summer...I want to chill out and play it to my friends whilst having barbeques and lots of beer!

First off, wouldn't the label be the ones that set the date, not Axl?

No idea. But I hope the artist, in this case Axl, has some say.....

Hopefully it'll happen in July if it doesn't happen this spring sometime.

Why July? Don?t tell me it?s got to do with the 20 year anniversary......

I think the release date will be announced as soon as they have everything set. There?s more to getting an album out than just making the album itself.

I'm still for march six bc axl said he would inform us ASAP if plans were to be changed. I know the date wasn't official but its their goal and it may be out by then and if no changed plans yet then im still for march 6th.

No offence but I'm getting bored of this patronising little statement ('get on with your life'). So what if we're really looking forward to an album thats been on the cards for the last ten years? I've got a life thank you very much and GNR hasn't and aint gonna stop that but it just so happens that I've got enough time to follow up on one of my favorite bands.  some of us really really want this album as soon as fucking possible and that it nothing to be ashamed of!

I do agree though, some people have too much time on their hands. And that just doesn't apply to GNR boards

I think on March 6th they'll announce the actual, definite release date, and probably announce a single and/ or a video.

That would be a good sign that the album SHOULD be soon to follow. I have a vacation out to LA planned in late April and will be satisfied if I have it anytime before the trip. I just want to be able to get off the plane in LA, get in my rental, and pop Chinese Democracy in the Cd player. It just feels like the right thing ta do!   yes

why do some people always have to patronise axl??

he said march 6th is the tentative release date and they`ll do everything they can to make it happen, or if not, they`ll release the record soon thereafter. in my humble opinion, axl should try to keep his word and actually work his ass off to release it in march.....not to give the release date on march 6th or to release it in september!  i mean, what the fuck??

it`s really getting ridiculous, when people are already trying to give him more excuses for not finishing the "minor additions" he was talking about.

and just to make it clear: i believe axl is working to get it out.

The CD might come out the 6th or before the 6th or after the 6th. Either way I look at it I will stay in good spirits knowing we have a tentative release date but, until we have a official one I am not going to play "Jump To Conclusions" and think up any fun promotionals, CD art, Track listing, etc. So on the flipside of waiting til the 6th for something the only thing I will be truely waiting for is my fathers birthday cause that is official. If Chinese Democracy comes out then he may be getting a album for his birthday if not oh well.

You shouldnt feel patronised. I'm a huge fan of GNR but i do think people need to be realistic here. We are all keen to hear the album and we will once its ready. We are NOT however entitled to have it. We dont have a divine right to get this.. if it never comes out we cant really say much about that. Its not up to us. So what i'm trying to say is.. enjoy your life and dont worry about an unreleased album. It we get it.. we get it

I just figured July would be the next best time if they miss this spring. Yes, because of the 20 year AFD anniversary.  If you think the label wouldn't want to cash in I think you'd be wrong. Everyone keeps talking about how the label "needs/wants to recoupe their investment", but i don't think they'd just be satisfied with recouping their investment- you'd think they want to make a PROFIT, afterall they are a business. Making a profit may prove difficult considering cd sales have consistently fell nearly 5% a year since 2000. So, some sort of tie-in between the 2 (AFD anniv. & release of CD) may be an option that the label is considering- thinking there's a better chance to turn a profit?  I don't know- it's just guessing on my part.

I know there's alot more than just recording the album to get that album in stores( contracts, etc..). I wonder if the label will want to do what some labels are doing with other bands- taking a certain percentage of their tour & merch revenue to make up for the lack of cd sales. I know Korn has a "profit sharing" deal with their label.

I have a happy life, with or without GNR. I think that goes for most fans. Some people seem to get worked into as frenzy when GNR don't appear to conform to what they perceive GNR should be (cough, Nesquick), IMO these people need to enbjoy their lives a little more. But I'm still really looking forward to Chinese Democracy!  ok

Actually, I think we do have a right to say something if this CD doesn't come out. GNR has toured twice under the Chinese Democracy banner, so I think the actual CD, probably financed on a lot of our (fans) money, should actually be delivered at some point. If it's not officially released, I'm sure it will be leaked.

For the people that were discussing the label yesterday, I received a myspace reply from one of my Universal sources. Though the reply sounds like BS, here it is:

geffen/interscope/a&m are all the same label. confusing. i know. but it will definitely be interscope.

So.... have you confirmed which label is handling the GNR record? I'm just curious because you mentioned Interscope and up to this point every GNR release worldwide has been handled by Geffen.

The point is that at any rate he promised that the band work their asses off to make it happen on around March 6, (It's all the same whether it's on the date or not. ) at the end of the winter or the beginning of the spring. Has he ever done that before?

Would you say 'no you can't make it' to the people who're trying their best?
when they are making something you really want?

True, a few more months won't be too much for us.
But for now, for gods sake, why not cheer for them?

why do some people always have to patronise axl??

Maybe they think he owes them obedience or something?  no

I think they're messing with you, dude. Geffen would've had to hand over GNR to Interscope and Interscope would have to deal with the debt. They are owned by Universal, but they are not all the same label.

Wilco was a band that got dropped by their label, which was owned by Warner, then re-signed to another label owned by Warner. Different people head the different labels and they become responsible for their artists. Why the hell would anyone at Interscope want the headache known as GNR?
