Wasn't AFD released in July of 87'. I hope Interscope/Geffen doesn't have any ideas that involve dropping this album on the same month.    no

Agreed, that would be the worst thing they could do if they want to sever all ties with the "Old" band...

I agree July is better than say next year or never but July is also 6 months away. The album was supposedly definitely coming in 2006 and now tentative for March 07. I just think enough is enough. I want Chinese Democracy to start in March not 6 more months from now. That was my only point.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Understood. I was at the point of doubting the March rumors two weeks ago, and at this point I'm doubting it'll even be out this year at all. That's why I made the 'Consider yourself lucky if it comes out in July' comment.

For anyone who doesn't like my 'negative speculation', get over it. I'm not telling anyone else they're wrong. I have my opinions, you have yours. I hope the people predicting March are correct. Seems fair to me.

I'm severely doubting March right now myself, but I don't feel the wheels have completely stopped. I agree with you on the opinion thing though thats for sure.

I haven't given up on March, but if we don't have a single by mid-February, I think it's out of the question.

basically cd would better have been released last year so they could promote "Appetite" - remasterd DVD Audio -whatever- as 20years anniversary in 2007!

Shit, it won't surprise me at all if they try to do some sort of tie-in with the 20 year anniversary for AFD and the release of Chinese Democracy(thinking they can sell more copies of CD that way). I could see this cd not coming out until July at the earliest. I hope I'm wrong, but i REALLY doubt this album will be out before July.

Same people that swore up until mid december that it was going to be out in 06 cuz "Axl said so" are the same ones falling for it again- so it seems. The word "tentative" should have been enough to tell you it ain't happening on that day.

. The band and I, along with our record company, feel that this record deserves the proper setup and promotion, not the ?13 Tuesdays left? and ?It may just appear in your record store? approach offered by management. We believe this strategy may have been used as a tool by management to sell this latest tour to the various promoters, and if this was the case, this was obviously unfair to them. The stress of dealing with this situation has been considerable for everyone, including the band, but more important, in our opinion, it was something utterly insane to do to our fans

My question to all of this is and has been: If it was such an utterly insane thing to do to the fans, then why did he go along with it??

So, who's Axl going to throw under the bus with his next open letter to fans? who will he try to pass the blame on next time? Guess maybe we'll see as March 6th draws closer.

CD will be out earliest late March.  If that is to happen, we would hear something soon.  Albums are available for a March 6th release, and I've heard studio versions of such album since Christmas.  Enjoy the demos, it will be a while.

i still dont see why everyone is flipping out. maybe it wont be march 6th but im sure it'll be  released around that time, maybe its been postponed a month and it'll be around April. or even May to avoid conflict with the NIN release. the point is that i think for once, "soon" is the word.

if its late Febuary/early March and we still havent heard a peep, then i'll start complaning.....

I hate to agree w/ you, being that I am one of those people that believed Axl last year when he kept sayin "It is this year," but I do agree. After Axl announced in December that it wouldn't be coming in 2006, I began having a bad feeling that this thing may not surface til summer 07 (probably July) cos that was the month AFD dropped 20 years prior. I mean, I'm not sayin Axl was lying when he said March 6, maybe that is what he's going for but that doesn't mean the label will go for that day. Like you said, they are probably seeing bigger $$ signs tying it in w/ the 20th anniversary of AFD. I really hope that we finally do get this thing in March but I'm thinking thats looking ' highly unlikely ' , not impossible, but unlikely. I wouldn't be suprised if we didn't hear from Axl or management til late February. I do think though that when we do hear from them this time, we may finally get the "firm release date" that we've been waiting for. Unfortuantely, I don't think that will be March though... ? ?Cry

While we all hope for the best, it's no disservice to ourselves to include a little reality into this situation.  To those who say that silence is golden, one wonders if you're choosing not to see the woods from the trees.  The fact that nothing has been heard at this point can't be good for a March 6th release.  If March 6th is the day, Universal would have it on their release schedules by now (a notice of confirmation would have been issued).  I don't mean to be a killjoy, but I think if you're banking on having Chinese Democracy by early March you're setting yourself up for certain disappointment.  I remember how many people on here and other boards use to post how they were 100% positive that they'd have the new album by the end of 2006.  Even by the middle of December you could find people promising that they'd have it by Christmas.  I'm starting to see the same thing based soley on what Axl wrote in his letter.  I think being releastic about the process and being negative are two different things.  I think Axl and the band are doing everything in their power to release an album their happy with, but I don't think you can start the eight week countdown until a single is released.

Use your Illusions, but don't be deluded.

Cheers,

Andrew

Again, absolutely agree.  Being realistic and being negative are two separate things.  Saying this album isn't coming in March is being realistic.   no

First off, wouldn't the label be the ones that set the date, not Axl? With contracts needing negotiated, the need for proper promotion (which Axl even said in his letter), and the fact that we're just over a month away from March 6th ought to be enough to tell anyone that it won't be out on March 6th,IMO.

I'm not surprised, nor am i disappointed. I never thought March 6th would really be the day anyway, afterall, Axl did say "tentative". That too, should've been enough for most people to realize it wouldn't be out on that day, IMO.

Hopefully it'll happen in July if it doesn't happen this spring sometime. If not, atleast i'll be able to get the new Megadeth and new Velvet Revolver albums.

There is no way this album is coming out on March 6th.

A single would have to be released by Tuesday or so and I just dont see that happening.

Maybe we'll get some news next Tuesday, on Axl's birthday... Who knows?

Cmon people. You've waited so fuckin long, what's 2-3-4 weeks longer?

So we will either hear nothing and album is on track or we hear a "it's been delayed to such and such a date".

Either way it's good.

If it is delayed then we get more communication from Axl.

And if we don't hear anything then to me that means album will be out in Spring. peace

This is what keeps me going...come March 6th he has to say something to save face from fans and media alike. And another 'tentative' date will be just one step too far in lameness imo. He's probably doing everything in his power to ensure we have a confirmed release date by Marcch 6th.
