You shouldn't apologize, what you meant is clear to most people. If and when Interscope has the album there will be some information floating around that will confirm that fact. That's just the way it is. Especially considering the industry joke that CD is in some circles.....someone would talk or some bit of business concerning the album would leak on the net. You can't deny that. Nothing means they have squat.
Question (and I'm quite serious):
Why do you continue to make assertions that fly in the face of history, reality, and an industry you don't seem to know anything about?
I'm just curious...
All hearing nothing means, at this point, is we've heard nothing. Reading any more into it simply isn't sound logic. Unless, of course, you have evidence that what you assert "should happen" has actually happened before, as the norm? If so, please provide it! I'm sure the board would like to see it...I know I would.
Will and I have a longstanding history of communicating on these boards....I'm confident "most people" would have read his post similarly to mine. I wouldn't be disingenious with him.....and his clarification did make sense.

Since Axl gave a tentative date of March 6th I imagine Universal must be getting requests from all over the place (magazines, radio, tv, billboard, record stores etc.) wanting to know if it's indeed true. I would think somebody would let out a "things are finally looking good" or something if it were to be the case.
That's just the way it works. A friend tells a friend, if there's anything to be told.
Hopefully that may happen.? We'll have to wait and see.? I don't think enough time has passed to assume it would have happened already, and I'm not sure there is enough "hardcore" press coverage to even think anyone reputable from the press has asked the question yet.
I think it would have happened. I don't know how many people are involved in a big release, but I guess we can say it's safe to assume it's a few. These people know people, and finally recieving the project that must have become one of the biggest in-industry jokes of the century, they would spread the word somehow. Approximately 8 weeks means hand over on around Jan 9th (funny how they cancelled shows 10 days after that...). That's a couple of weeks for word to spread.
I mean, we don't even have any fake rumours about this. That should be alarm clock number one.

Just an FYI. I have a contact at Universal that claims as of this morning that the record hasn't been turned into Interscope yet and the album has yet to appear on their schedule.
The album, from what I've heard, would go to Geffen, no?? Now that they're doing their own A&R stuff?
The same source confirmed a while ago that it will be issued through Interscope.

Again, the approx 8 weeks AND the time line he laid out should be taken together, I'd think. That means we should've expected the album to be to the label by the 16th/17th-ish. About a week.
I'm not sure that's long enough for anything to "percolate" to the surface.
And I gotta be honest: I've not often heard those kinds of "percolations" coming out of a label before....I don't recall hearing when VR's album was turned over to their label. I don't recall hearing when Audioslave turned over their last album. From the artist? Sure. From the label or staff or other "rumors"....I can't recall any.
Do you have any examples that might refresh my memory?

Trust me. I want nothing that I've been told by her to be true. It's almost like she's excited to deliver any bad news to me about the subject.
But she and another person from Universal told me a couple of months ago that Interscope would be the label.
Then about today at about 7am she dropped this new news on me.

I've shot an email off....let me see what kind of response I get.
Again, they're listed on Geffens site. Even GH was re-branded a Geffen release.
They're not listed on Interscope's site. Maybe Interscope might release the album internationally (I'm not sure on that....I'll have to check), but not domestically (the US)....and they wouldn't get the album turned over to them, Geffen would. That's what I've been told, over and over again, every time I've inquired about the album: Geffen release.
Like I said, I've shot off an email....lets see what I can get for info.
Edit: Looks like UM-International handles the GnR international releases.....not Interscope.
Still waiting on a response to my email.

Just a follow up:
Did you ASK her specifically about Geffen.
Geffen was, until not too long ago, an imprint of interscope. They've only relatively recently begun operating as an independant label again. Maybe she's confused?
Sorry, it's just.....well, suffice to say I'd be shocked if Geffen weren't the label...it would make no sense in the grand scheme of things. I'm trying to find a way to "merge" your info with what I'VE been told.

Didn't Axl make a joke at the San Fran show about hoping Universal didn't waste their money?
Isn't Universal part of Interscope?

Other way around:
Universal Music Group (not to be confused with Universal, the former parent company, now owned by NBC) is the parent company of Interscope and Geffen. Geffen, while operating independantly now, I think sort of still "dotted line" reports up the Interscope food chain. But they DO operate independantly.
In other words: I would think Interscope would know if CD had been turned over to Geffen (this is assuming what I've been told is correct), but it WOULD be turned over to Geffen, if they were releasing it.

The explanation for VR and Audioslave is most likely that the interest and circumstances are different. I don't think you see alot of Audioslave fans bombarding people with those type questions, simply because when those bands say they will release something they actually do.
And I got a few examples. We always know in advance when there's a tour or a gig approaching. We knew about Live Era in advance. The greatest hits we knew about, the second greatest hits we knew about.
We also have guys like russtcb that get small bits of info. I remember alot of people claiming last year that according to Universal there wasn't any released planned. People shot that down with the 'surprise' bullshit, but now we know it was true.
I'm just saying that when Universal recieves the masters there will pretty soon be some guy here claiming that info. None has done that yet.

As for the second part, I was told by the same two people at Universal exactly what you said about the album not being on the schedule for last year at all. That's why I'm very worried at this new development. She said "the album's not even on the schedule yet for this YEAR let alone in just over a month".

on page 2 of the main board.
He's pretty much slagging Axl, buts its still an interesting read.
I'll check it out. Like I said, I'm not claiming my info is 100%, I'm just stating what I was told by 2 seperate people at Universal.
Yeah, Geffen has been involved since the beginning. And according to the article stopped funding the album in 2004. And I don't really think Interscope would want to be involved with them. Even on Axl's side, things are a bit hairy between him and the label.

I think that can be explained by the fact that Universal won't even sit down with Axl until they have the album. They surely know about his intentions for this year, but they won't even put it on schedule until he delivers.

Right, so you don't have any examples of what you think WILL happen actually happening (the examples provided have nothing to do with the label, except maybe GH...which we found out about first because Amazon listed it and 2nd through a PR rumor that did NOT come from the label.).
I don't either. That's my point. I just can't think of any. Labels, as a general rule, can be tight lipped about stuff like that.
We may hear something...wouldn't surprise me. But I wouldn't EXPECT to hear something, and I wouldn't assume just because we haven't that nothing is happening. That's my entire point.

My guess:
They'll want proof the album is done prior to negotiations taking place.
Axl won't turn over the masters til negotiations are complete.
And I agree..they won't/wouldn't do any work on planning, logistics, marketing, replication scheduling, etc until the masters were in hand.
