have you guys mightve thought that this recording might be fora small ablum? after CD aka Lies after AFD ?? He did after all say the album was finished before december . He could just be doing a followi up album just like Lies to be relaseed shortly after the first album.
The album wasn't finished in December. Most apparent by the fact that it never saw the light of day, but also backed up by both Axl (indirectly) and Merck.

It won't.
Yeah they haven't notified us that it's finalized and
official
yet.
but I don't know how anyone can be so damn sure it won't be out on the day.
Because we're 2 weeks into the deadline, and no word of anything.
there is no deadline.... there never was a deadline....
there could be a single released in a week for all we know....
it probably won`t anyways....
March 6th minus 8 weeks made January 9th the deadline for turning in the album.
that doesn`t necessarily mean we get to know about the release date eight weeks in advance.... it could very well be announced six weeks before....
but you`re right. desperately trying to believe it will come out on march 6th won`t help anyone.... it was exactely the same in 2006 when the year was running short of weeks and people still said there`s enough time and it could come out without previous notice....
i`m quite positive, that the news we`re waiting for are coming soon though

Hardly anyone will abandon the band over this. People just like to blow hot air as they think itll work if they make a few veiled threats to leave gnr behind. It wont. Tried it myself a few times next year. Ill buy it regardless of when it comes out. Face it, if your on the boards, you either wanna hear it or yoy dont (tho there probly arent many of the latter here or any other board).
Its just the people who are casual fans who might have any serious doubt bout getting the album.

Because we're 2 weeks into the deadline, and no word of anything.
A few things:
Approximately 8 weeks does not mean 8 weeks to the day.
There is/was no deadline.
Just because we've recieved no word, doesn't mean it's not done. We very well might NOT hear anything. GnR certainly aren't going to announce "Hey, we're on schedule". In fact, I'd suspect we'll only hear from Axl if things have NOT gone according to schedule...since that's what he says will happen in his open letter. Not hearing anything, IMHO, is a GOOD thing. He's already laid out the timeline...why comment on it if things are going according to plan?
The album being turned in doesn't mean there is going to be an immediate announcement of an official release date.

What deadline? Sorry to copy what pphebe alreafy sad, but read pilferk's post a pge or to back. be quick tho as it mentions merk, so itll be deleted soon.
The tentative deadline he set for himself. That seems to have been missed, so I see March 6th as highly improbable.
I agree it seems likely that the deadline for handing in the album may well have been missed, but we dont know that for sure. I also think people are overestimating the volume of promo needed, plus the length of time needed to do it. Thats just opinion tho bases on no industry experience whatsoever.
Because we're 2 weeks into the deadline, and no word of anything.
Axl said approximately 8 weeks. That means about 7-9 weeks to me, which is normal procedure for releasing an album. I'm not going to start speculating that it could be cramped down to 6 weeks or less, like people did last year, just because we want it so bad.
We will be told as soon as it's official, according to Axl and according to logic. I'm already looking at April.
How do you know it hasn't already been turned in and plans are underway for promotion etc? Just because we haven't heard anything yet doesn't mean they are not on schedule.

People outside of the band have heard it though. Bubbles and Bach are an example.
I believe what Axl says about minor issues left. However, I think negotiations on contract and promotions is what is taking time. Just a guess though.

Personally, I think he wants to deliver at least two albums worth of material to the record label. He should use the extra material in contract negotiations. It puts him in a position of strength in regards to recouping costs, etc.

Yep Al.
Some people try to come between the fans and axl/GNR but never mind. love is stronger than hate.
knowing that it's a tentative date and that GNR do their best,
even if the news coming soon is that they are delayed for unseen reasons, we won't be disheartened.

The date does not become "official" because the album is turned in.
That was my point.
And that we'll hear from Axl only if we need to, not to get periodic updates on the progression of the album through the release process.

He said minor
additions
. That means recording. I don't know what Baz and the gang has heard, but it's most likely the almost finished product.

When it's official - is this when the promotion starts? - we will be notified.

I certainly have never said that it hasnt been turned in. Indeed, if we still believe that things are on track for axls tentative timetable, the chances are it has already been handed in and, as others have said, negotiations are happening before promo starts and a date is announced.
Bearing in mind the statement, the fact that we've had no more statements since then is certainly reason enough for optimism, even tho it doesnt tell us definitively that the album will be out 6 march.

Silence from GnR, when they've already told us what they're going to do, isn't a bad thing. It just isn't.
They're not going to hold our hands through the album submit and release process, telling us what's happening every step of the way, as it happens. And to expect them to isn't realistic.
What you want is akin to asking them, while on tour, to confirm each tour date the morning it happens...when, in reality, the only time they're going to talk to "us" is when there is a CHANGE in the schedule/tour dates...a cancellation or delay.
When it's official, they'll tell us. If there's a delay, they'll tell us. Til we hear SOMETHING from them, there's simply no reason to expect things have changed...nothing other than idle, unfounded speculation. And that's the fact of the matter.
