He didnt say the album needs 8 weeks promo, and thats a fact. the fact that you 2 seem to think it does need that much is entirely another matter.

Axl said the following: "It takes approximately eight weeks for an album to hit the shelves once it has been turned in to the record company."

Since he hasn't said otherwise as of today, it should mean the March 6th date is still up, and that they turned in the album to the record company on or before January 6th. It should mean that Universal/ Interscope/ Geffen has been sitting on it for about 3 weeks without moving a finger. Doesn't sound likely to me. Jusy my opinion though.

Ah, now you, sir, have at least bothered to read the statement! As for your conclusion - sounds reasonable. I hope you're wrong, as i want it asap as does everyone here, but I do see what you mean.

my at least 8 weeks promotion doesnt come from axls statement. thats how much promotion time labels pay out regarding ?new releases from big names in the music industry. ?

Our or should I say MyGNRs insider gunsguy said it would be this week that things started to happen, now unless magically everything is going to fall into place tomorrow is insider info appears to have a been a bit wrong.

He said this week? So we can bet it was BS again. Not that I believed him, but I always find it entertaining when their "deadline" comes around and then...they go around and disappear.

One thing that seems a bit weird to me is that GN'R is currently losing the hype of the momentum they built for a few months last year (may-july in Europe and then september-december in North America). What is the point of doing everything they did last year to disappear in january (no official news as of now) and what looks like february in a few days...? I would have thought they'd have released the single by now to keep that momentum. Communication is a good thing, I don't know why GN'R doesn't use it more, they should put more stuff on their site I think. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I completely agree w/ you. With the hype they built last year touring and being back in the news they should have released the album in December. I kinda thought the " let the album ?speak for itself" promotion would have worked. All the real fans would have known it was about to drop and the rest of the public would have learned soon enough after arriving on shelves. I'm just really hoping it wont be too long after the 6th.

thats spot on, the moment the label has the cd they want to promote the bejesus out of it. so far we havent heard anything which means no news=label dont have the album=album not finished. just my humble opinon. ?

Producing an Album I would imagine means that multipule tasks take place at the same time, the only part that the master plays is in the recording to whatever media format(s) are decided I would think.

Trying to remember what I saw on a programme about the manufacture of recorded Compact Disc's there is a load of processes taking shape long before its what we buy in the shops. The speed of production may/possibly/could by done over several continents thus spliting that time into several units too.

Given that the number of sales will include a significant number of downloaded copies the length of the initial production run of cd's and vinyl (I heard a rumour that some vinyl copies would be made??) When its sent to iTunes or whoever, then the speed of manufacture is irrelivent, as the speed of the download is the only factor surely. It suggests to me that the amount of time spent manufacturing the album would be quite small in comparison to the legal stuff and oganising a promotional campaign, all of which can be taking place whilst the master is still in Axls posession. ?Keep the faith

I don't know how anyone can believe it will be out on March 6th.  It won't.  So therefore, if it were really on it's way we should have heard something substanstial by now.

Also remember, Merck's letter said their target was March 20 (or maybe it was 27)... So, we might get it in March...

Axl can and will likely outdo Reznor.? Apples to apples, Axl is GNR and Reznor is NIN.? smoking

Sorry, but there's a bit of a difference there. Trent does most , and in some cases, ALL of the work in the studio then hires whoever he wants as his live band. So, yes, Trent IS NIN.

Axl doesn't do it alone. He may have the ideas in his head, but he requires the help of other musicians to actually make that vision happen.I don't think that's a bad thing, but to say that Axl is GnR would be a slap in the face to all the other musicians that help write the songs that we love so much.

Just my opinion.

there is no deadline.... there never was a deadline....

there could be a single released in a week for all we know....

it probably won`t anyways....

March 6th minus 8 weeks made January 9th the deadline for turning in the album.

The tentative deadline he set for himself. That seems to have been missed, so I see March 6th as highly improbable.

I agree it seems likely that the deadline for handing in the album may well have been missed, but we dont know that for sure. I also think people are overestimating the volume of promo needed, plus the length of time needed to do it. Thats just opinion tho bases on no industry experience whatsoever.

Axl said approximately 8 weeks. That means about 7-9 weeks to me, which is normal procedure for releasing an album. I'm not going to start speculating that it could be cramped down to 6 weeks or less, like people did last year, just because we want it so bad.

We will be told as soon as it's official, according to Axl and according to logic. I'm already looking at April.
