Fucked over in Philly - 12/06/02

« Reply #120 on: January 24, 2007, 10:31:04 PM »

Sorry but NIN is far more populair than Gn'R is at the moment, and NIN fans stick through in the long run just like Gn'R fans do.

Pretty Hate Machine - 1990
The Downward Spiral - 1994
The Fragile - 1999
With Teeth - 2005
Year Zero - 2007 (amazingly).

There's a 11 year period where only 2 albums were released there, and fans still came back for more, something that rarely happens in modern day music (Gn'R will be an exception since they appeal more to older fans..).

Anyhoo I hate that argument that Interscope won't release 2 of their top albums together around the same time, that's stupid.  For one, Interscope won't hold back the release of CD one second once they actually can release it, they want the fucking thing out already, and number 2, both NIN and Gn'R's albums are going to sell amazing whether they're released in the same month or not.

If GN'R went head-to-head with NIN with a new release, there is no doubt in my mind GN'R would do better.

NIN last album came out two years ago, and sold a million copies in the US, so the new CD should do as well. But due to the fact "Chinese Democracy" is such a legendary album, it will outsell the new NIN, just on the curiosity factor alone.

That said, I don't think the release of one will effect the sales of the other. I will buy both the day they are released.

There's nothing there to suggest NIN are bigger than GN'R. Btw, PHM came out in 1989 and you left out the "Broken" ep.

NIN influenced CD's creation.
there's no way a student could outdo the master.

Finck was a NIN guitarist.
Do you really think that he could outdo Trent?

Axl can and will likely outdo Reznor.  Apples to apples, Axl is GNR and Reznor is NIN.  smoking

If they want "proper promotion", one would think they'd need to begin promoting the album like...right about now. At least that's what is usually done. You release a single on radio and/ or the internet and a video for TV, then a few weeks later you release the album. If we don't see anything in the next couple of weeks, it'll be likely the release will be pushed back a little. What happened to the two weeks rumor of the Better single btw?

i think a march 6th release date is possible if the single is released on the first monday in february....so we`ll see.

if not we`re probably gonna get it soon thereafter...

We will see soon enough, but Axl said that he would let us know if the March 6th date is delayed. I believe him. I think the next move will be either the release of the new single or announcing the delay.

the silence regarding the album means only one thing the album is not finished! the label doesnt have the album coz if they did we would have heard something.

sorry, but in a few days there will be only 5 weeks left. It's nearly impossible to promote such an album in less than 5 weeks...

i agree this album is not coming out in 5 weeks, a single yes. the label is going to promote this album properly and properly means AT LEAST 8 weeks promotion.

I think we'll see the single in the next 5-6 weeks and the album will likely follow 4-6 weeks after that.   ok

Your logic doesn't work here. There's no way that a student could ever outdo a master? And what exactly is a master, anyway?

Jesus! And you continue to be unable to read! Regardless of the fact that you may feel that the albums needs 8 weeks promo, Axl did not say that it did, which is what you, hackvresse, claim axl said. He did not say it tho.

I have not said how much promo they need in this thread, im just pointing up people's bad memory (hey, why not read it) of axl's statement.

He didnt say the album needs 8 weeks promo, and thats a fact. the fact that you 2 seem to think it does need that much is entirely another matter.

Our or should I say MyGNRs insider gunsguy said it would be this week that things started to happen, now unless magically everything is going to fall into place tomorrow is insider info appears to have a been a bit wrong.

He said this week? So we can bet it was BS again. Not that I believed him, but I always find it entertaining when their "deadline" comes around and then...they go around and disappear.

One thing that seems a bit weird to me is that GN'R is currently losing the hype of the momentum they built for a few months last year (may-july in Europe and then september-december in North America). What is the point of doing everything they did last year to disappear in january (no official news as of now) and what looks like february in a few days...? I would have thought they'd have released the single by now to keep that momentum. Communication is a good thing, I don't know why GN'R doesn't use it more, they should put more stuff on their site I think. Anyway, just my 2 cents.
