I dont think we are going to get it March 6th.

If I had to guess it would be anywhere from March 27 - May 29th

And if we dont get it in that range then we will surely get it during the most busiest shopping day of the yr....the tues before black friday!!

I'm betting on April 17th. Don't know exactly why, but something about that day feels right for it.

Can someone list what exactly is involved in the whole process in making an album?

The normal album-making process doesn't apply here, so that would be useless.

I think a date will at least be around the area of March 6. axl is shooting for that date, and from all the news/rumors of his whereabouts the past few weeks, it seems he still is shooting for march

"Becoming" ridiculous?  Come on, now.  We've almost gone 3-4 whole days around here without someone starting a new "when will the album be out?!?!"....kind of a record, really.

Blabbermouth is really just a news relay.  They don't interview people and they don't create the news.

So suggesting that Blabbermouth is (or is not) reliable is indicative of a poor understanding of how that site works. Smiley

On topic though...   If it's not ready for March 6th release I think we'll hear something before March 6th.   I don't think Axl will play that game.

But - if Axl WAS still recording last week (i.e., note it is not last week anymore) then there would still be mixing to be completed right?  Plus the final mastering.  Plus approval by the record company et al.

Maybe Axl will annouce the "new"release date on March 6 when the album is finished?
I don't think that it comes out now because he's still recording!

Greetz,
Gerd

OK..everyone, please, I'm begging you...read Axl's open letter.

He very plainly lays out a timeline as to when things were going to happen.  Right there, in black and white...he talks about making minor additions to CD (ie: RECORDING) and negotiating with the label.  He says all that's been scheduled and THAT'S WHY THE JANUARY SHOWS were cancelled.

Look at the dates of the cancelled shows.

They pretty much match up with what we know Axl's been doing and where he's been.

So why would we think that, given what we know, the date has changed?  He gives the tentative date in the same open letter, so one would THINK that his timeline takes it all into account....right?

"Approximately 8 weeks" doesn't mean 8 weeks to the day.....just relax.  If there's any more to hear, we'll hear it.

I'm still holding on the march 6th hope, but I also wanted to point out what a certain ex-manager said (in a letter we can't  discuss) in regards to march 20th.

I like your thinking,? and I hope you're right.

The problem is, I DID read the letter and it has a big back-door:

"If we are delayed for unseen reasons, you also will be notified as soon as possible in regard to a new date, and the album will be released as shortly thereafter as is possible. We thank you for your patience."

This could (could!) easily mean that indeed they are now "delayed for unseen reasons" and we would " be notified as soon as possible in regard to a new date" - but this notification then COULD come next November or whenever.

That just as an advocatus diaboli. I'm not into bitchin', I hope. I just wanted to point out that the letter is far from being bullet-proof.

But that's the point....all this speculation that there's been some unplanned delay is based on 1)Axl being in Vegas and 2) Axl being in NYC.  Which, if you read his letter, is pretty much where you would expect him to be given the time line he laid out.  Get me?

Has there been a delay?  I have no earthly idea...and neither does anyone else.  All I'm saying is, from what we've seen, heard, or has been reported, NOTHING supports the speculation that they're behind schedule.  On the contrary, it looks like things are going exactly as Axl laid out.

Yes, Axl gave himself an out clause in the letter....I would too.  He's not in control of everything or everyone on the planet, so best to say that or...well...we've seen what happens on these boards when someone from Gnr or Gnr managment is incorrect (through their fault or not):  They get lynched!

Edit: Look, I understand everyone being as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.  Given the history, it's not surprising.  But right now, it's going to behoove everyone to just be patient, keep our ears and eyes open, and see what happens.  All the idle speculation is just going to fragment the fan base and cause unneeded ajada.....for once, we actually have something MORE than speculation, something concrete to look to for info.  So, until we actually have reason to believe otherwise....how about we just chill?

if there's going to be a rescheduling/delay, we will know in advance. they wont wait till march 6, because that would give them some bad/negative karma.
we'll know at least 3-4 weeks in advance, probably first 2 weeks of February.
most likely around Axl's birthday.
Remember people, they have yet to announce/release the single, and since it hasn't been mentioned yet, I doubt we'll get it anytime soon.
Its likely that (if) next announcement will not deal with the album release, but will give us an exact date for the single, since the "album release - card" has already been played.

I've never believed the cd is coming out March 6th. Axl said "tentative", so that told me right there that 3-6-07 won't be the day. Bands that have albums coming out in April or May are already starting to have new singles on the radio, another sign (IMO) that it's not coming in March.

While I REALLY hope I'm wrong, I think there's a very good chance that we'll still be speculating on this shit in 2008.

I dont think it's gonna be april....
that's when NIN's "year zero" is due...
and I dont think Interscope would risk 2 of their greatest rock bands fighting over the charts...
And I really doubt GNR would risk a duel with such a strong opponent, since at this moment NIN is far more popular than GNR.

Axl said March 6, and has said nothing since.  It's March 6 until otherwise noted.
