Adler, I know that but that original article and comment came out of the NY TIMES article which I personally don't hold as a reputable music industry source. Billboard is reputable.....the info does jive though. Again, I think it will be on Interscope. ok

The NY Times is one of the most respected newspapers in the U.S., if not the world, so they don't just make stuff up or go off internet rumors like some media. Being in the industry myself, I'd say they did their homework before publishing that info.

Where I come from, within the US, the NY Times is a PIECE OF SHIT. Yes, they would "stretch the truth" on anything to sell copies and "influence" public opinion. ok ok

I don't think that's true, but that's a discussion for elsewhere, not in this thread.

Why are we assuming the studio in NYC is for tinkering with the album.

Prior to the '06 tour, they booked a studio in NYC  for rehersal for about 6 weeks-ish.

The rumors are, he's just booked another studio for a couple months.

There are tour rumors for April.

I mean...I can certainly see a scenario where that studio is not for recording purposes

By that time last year, they hadn't played toghether for years.

Unless they have to learn and rehearse new unheard songs, I don't think they would be in a studio for this that much in advance.

Again, I think it will be on Iinterscope.

short odds, madagas, as a mention of the label name is not made at either of new official gnr pages.

Or maybe mr Iovine is giving a new label to GNR like he did for nin? heaven knows.

fyi I put sic.s quotes in chronological order.

"In January 1999 Seagram orchestrated a massive restructuring of its music division, firing 110 Geffen employees, including Mr. Rosenblatt, and folding the unit into the corporation's bigger Interscope Records division. The unfinished album was placed in the hands of Interscope's chairman, Jimmy Iovine."
2004-2005? "Interscope has taken "Chinese Democracy" off its schedule." - NY Times

2006/02/23
"Representatives for both Geffen and Interscope, the two labels most likely to release Chinese Democracy, said they know nothing about a release date for the album or even which label might put it out. " - MTV

/2006/09/06/
"Jimmy Iovine (head of Interscope) has heard as many as 6 finished tracks off of Chinese Democracy. Interscope would like to get this album out soon? hopefully before the end of the year." - Mark Strigl

I kinda have to agree. Im more interested in whats goin on with the gigs they have planned this year (accordin to the rumours and ads by some promotors) and whether that means that they are finally ready to release the album.

Why is the label important? Are you serious? Do you think Axl is going to distribute 5 million cd's worldwide from his basement? The album does not get released until the label situation and contract negotiations are set. A fairly important part of the process. Roll Eyes

because it might have something to do with the negotiation. Read the thread.
and a bit less tiring than the post below.

I clearly answered the question. I used observations/facts/instances, what ever you want to call them, from the past to make my assumption for the present and future. That is how it should be done. Basing future decisions off past experiences makes sense. Blindly believing in some one, after being let down year after year, does not.

And in 2002, soon was the word. In fact in 2001 Axl told the crowd at Rio "We'll be back next summer with a whole bunch of new songs".

To make a bold claim like you did about the 2002 Chinese Democracy World Tour and then say you weren't "even aware of this whole Chinese thing yet" leads me to believe that you don't really know what you are talking about  hihi

When Axl said we would "hear music this year", he meant Chinese Democracy.

actually you're merely using your fantasy, speculation and interpretation.
anyways you did clearly answer the question. You don't give a fuck about what is really said. that's all.
tara.

In talking about super bowl, Yesterday I was in a cafe with a few Friends and from out of the blue one from canada said axl would be there and the others from Washington and Scotland and said no he wouldn?t. although they all like music, they are not like GNRdiehards that that was totally unexpected.

 hihi

And the times is a piece of shit, dude. They are like any other magazine or paper, they have people write the articles and people are bias. They don't go to the magic truth well and make an article. Weren't they pretty much wrong with the GNR article? Roll Eyes

I'd think twice about calling madgas an idiot just because he offered up his opinion of the NY times where he lives.

If you look at his posts, he is a very intelligent poster.

I happen to think every newspaper sucks so what does that make me?

Yeah, and do you actually think Axl isn't going to have a major label? ?I'm sure it's figured out dude. ?You don't have to get all worried about it.

No one is 'worried' about it.
The other day in this thread, Pilferk, madgas and russcb had a very intelligent discussion on the label.

I don't like the NY Post...I mean NY Times. I thought the article was alright, but some things seemed exaggerated and blown up to make the story better. ?Wink As far as being an idiot, that may be a little harsh. ?Roll Eyes Thanks spaghetti...also, big artists get dropped by major labels all the time. Axl will be no different if he doesn't get this thing out at some point...nothing is a given in today's music industry.

To make the story sensational.  Quality papers are often little better than tabloids. no

Yeah, and do you actually think Axl isn't going to have a major label?

since when interscope is a minor label?

Yeah but my god how much time are we spenin talkin bout which label itll be on? theres many more things that matter to negotiations. Such as are they gonna reject the album again? how much money are they gonna agree to spend on it and possibly future albums? will they even give him more than a 1 album deal then get him to renegotiate later if he wants to put more out? thatd sound reasonable given the time he takes to put stuff out.

im just tsayin theres plenty to consider and what label itll be on is a matter for him, and one which has v little effect on any of us. whereas some of the other concerns are relevant to fans who may want to hear more from gnr in future, proving they live long enough.
