I was sure that by a month and a half after Axl's letter to the fans that there would be some communication by now. Almost a month left til' the supposed release date and still no confirmation, tracklisting, or news of any kind. Axl himself said that it takes about 8 weeks from the point it's handed in to the record company til the release. Has that even happened yet? Im starting to think his letter to the fans may have been mainly to save face with the media once the year ended with no album, not so much for the fans. I hate to agree with the naysayers, but until Axl proves otherwise (and I hope he does) we can pretty much kiss march goodbye.

This album reminds me of a scene from the Simpsons

Marge: I'd love to have a watch like that
Homer: Well maybe someone will get you one for Christmas
(Marge walks off happy)
Homer's Brain: Now she'll really be surprised when she opens that ironing board cover!

Did you just, not so subtly, pull out some Tom Petty there?

Why yes. Yes I did. ?hihi

I watched the '89 VMA clip yesterday so I had Petty on the brain and it seemed to fit.

With this "Confirmed" show in April, I'm hoping that means things are right on track.

Still more on that Geffen/Interscope question, a few pages prior in this thread:

Out the door not long ago was Guns N' Roses original A&R guy, Tom Zutaut, whom had been brought in last year at Axl's request to try and act as a go-between the singer and Interscope.

Needless to say, the label wants the record done. They've been pouring millions into the project for years, the only saving grace being their books technically didn't start showing the loss until they inherited the already multi-million dollar old project from Geffen, whose share was written off when the label was folded into Interscope/Universal.

- Feb 12th, 2002

The article is credited to Sorelle Saidman, who also wrote the upcoming Axl book. Her information has often rang true.

Which was true...when Geffen was operating as an imprint only (which is what they were doing back in '02) of Interscope.

They re-launched as their own label in '03...so any world on the subject prior to that probably shouldn't be taken as definitive.

We do know that AFTER Geffen relaunched...GnR was added to their list of artists and taken off the Interscope list of artists.

And that's about it.

Only time will tell, though I continue to hear it is definitely a Geffen release.  I think people get confused because of all the changes, back and forth, with Geffen and how it operates.  They use the Geffen/Interscope name interchangeably....but that's just my suspicion.
