I'd say the 6th will be an update for a summer release....

If so, then the cycle continues ...

Unless the update is a solid date.

The update isn't "solid" until the RECORD COMPANY confirms it. Recently they said something along the lines of, "Well he's running around claiming March 6th, but we have yet to see any evidence that he's going to deliver and so we do not take responsibility for his claims."

Correct. Hence my use of the word 'solid' Tongue

Ah, well I thought you meant Axl posting on the GN'R official site, "This is the confirmed release date. It is no longer tentative." In this case, straight from the horse's mouth isn't really the most trustworthy of sources, so we'd have to have confirmation from the record company for sure.

An update on gnr.com without confirmation from the label would be a real blunder. Wouldn't surprise me though hihi nervous

I would be really disapointed if that was the official track listing.

That article is complete bullshit speculation. You all do remember that the tracklisting was MADE UP by a fan, don't you? Someone admitted to making that garbage up if I remember right (something about wanting attention for GNR 2K, even though it was completely behind the backs of the mods and admins over there).

When the fuck did that happen? What the fuck does this have to do with GNR2k?

I think that's we're all hoping for at this point. I gotta assume that route won't ever be taken again though.

What did I miss?

Axl said March 6, and has said nothing since.  Why is everyone doubting this projected release date?

It was a different tracklist that was made up by a fan i think, but the songs in this new 1 have all been mentioned before by axl or sources close to the band, one or 2 by beltrami who i think was responsible for some orchestration at some point, so this tracklisting is plausible, tho im aware it is by no means confirmed.

What did I miss?

Axl said March 6, and has said nothing since.? Why is everyone doubting this projected release date?

I guess because people feel that once Axl turns the record over to the label there will be some mention of it- either by Axl via press release or rumors/leaks. Axl himself said the whole process from turning over the finished product to release takes 8 weeks... and we're now 5 weeks (give or take) from March 6th with nothing by way of announcement or promotion. No single. No video. No official statement from Universal.

In Axl's defense- he said March 6th was nothing more than a tentative/hoped for/target release date. I think most fans have put two and two together at this point and have come to the conclusion that it's "getting closer" and that we'll probably have a substantive and much more specific update by March 6th (e.g. the album WILL be out April 23rd... "Better" WILL hit the air waves on March 13th.... etc.), but no actual album in their hands on 3/6/07.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with continuing to believe in the 3/6/07 date though- as it is true that Axl has said nothing to the contrary since his last statement. It just seems to cast the whole Merck firing in a different light though- if Axl releases 3/6/07 with no proper promotion, etc. when that was the whole reason Merck got axed. Huh

Doubting the March 6 date is no different than the people who doubted that we would see the album in 06. People get their panties in a twist with the "O well Axl said" line, but as it was then it is now that common sense says if we were truly seeing that album on the 6th we would know about it already. Just as when we heard nothing buy October last year we knew we weren't getting the album regardless of what Axl had said previously about seeing it last year.

At this point, to retain any credibility whatsoever, Axl (with his label's backing) MUST AT LEAST give a "SOLID" release date no later than March 6th. Even if that date is months away...    Roll Eyes

In all honesty, I can see this scenario happening. Christmas falls on a Tuesday this year. Oh no, I can see it now...   Lips Sealed

A release date wouldn't deviate more than about 8 weeks from the announcement. Normal bands can set release dates when the recording is finished and only tweaking is left. Axl, who has tweaked for years, can't. The release date will only be set after the label recieves the record. And as he said himself, 8 weeks is the approximate amount of time that will be needed for a release after the hand over of the album.
