If you bought  any Peter Pan peanut butter that  has  a product  code (top of lid) starting with 2111 you should throw it  away. There is a nationwide recall because  it is  believed that the  batches  coming from ConAgra are  tainted with salmonella. Already 39 people in the US have gotten sick.

For a refund, send the lid and your name/address to:

ConAgra Foods
PO Box 57078
Irvine, CA 92619-7078.

For more info call 866-344-6970.

Slightly off topic but, i dont know what its like in other countries but in England our jars of peanut butter come with a warning "may contain nuts" well no shit i should fuckin hope so. All i can think is that someone with a nut allergy has purchased some at one point not realising it contained nuts. If your that stupid you deserve to have an allergy

for a laugh check packets of peanuts - (hopefully they've stopped, but) i used to work in a shop selling a brand that warned these peanuts may contain nuts......

Why can't they just have... "There are no nuts in this, nut-allergy retards, you are free to gorge on this while all us normal people have beautifully wonderful peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches and cashews..." hihi

Why waste the money on Peter Pan, when there's Jiffy right next to it.

Me too. Mine's the crunchy kind. Threw it out, didn't even save the lid. Should sue them though, I have been feeling sick since I've gotten it and I've had people over who had a sandwich with it and also got sick. I guess I should have put two and two together earlier. nervous

Are you serious? This is the one of the things I dislike most about Americans, they are too sue-happy. "I spilled hot coffee on myself at McDonald's, Give me 5 million dollars!!!"

So if I'm in a car wreck, I should sue General Motors?

Jif has always kicked the ass of Peter Pan anyway.  Now I'm a grown-up, I dig the natural peanut butter...the one you don't have to stir is great.  Wink

Here in England... Jif is the former name of a cleaning product. It is now called Cif because apparently people found it too difficult to pronounce. Roll Eyes

If Jif peanut butter came over here... they'd change its name. Because apparently people can't do the J sound. Roll Eyes

Why can't English people  do the J sound? That is weird. I've been to England half a dozen times and never noticed. But then again, we never talked about Jif.

Ok, here is my verdict.
I've been a Peter Pan fan  for years and years. Yesterday I bought Jif, extra crunchy or something like that.
Jif does in fact  have more peanuts, but to the point of not being smooth. Peter  Pan is smoother. Both taste  the same to me, so it is a matter of which  consistency a person desires. Just FYI.
