Marmite Militia, taking over one piece of toast at a time!!!

Oh yeah.  I wasn't trying to decieve anyone or anything, I just didn't remember the incedent as much as you did, apparently.  But yeah, I did alot of this stuff while on breaks at work and I did talk about it a bit on my "now defunct" message board.  I thought it was kind of funny...and at the time, it was.  Looks like some people still are upset about the whole thing.  What was it, 3 years ago?  Whatever.  I did feel bad about it.  I really didn't think that people would take it so seriously, but I guess they did and I guess I misjudged what people found important in life.  My bad.

And for the record, I never was contacted by anyone from the company I work for about the incedent.

Not upset at all, just wanted to make sure the record is straight.

As for funny...I think your banning because of it shows how funny most people thought it was.  I think you aptly used the word pathetic, before. The "magic fax machine" was much more amusing, IMHO.

On why you were never contacted by anyone you work with.....I'm not surprised, but then again, it seems I know more of the specifics of what went on during and after the "sleuthing" (and when you found out about it) than you do.

As for "misjudging what people find important in life"...well, we'll leave it at this:  I venture it took us less time to track your IP, and for "someone" to contact the webmaster in question, than it took for you to put together this:

I.R.S.

You took it from me, so I took it from you.
You showered me with hate, so my hatred grew.
I came and came and followed.
You took it all inside
Bit down hard and swallowed.
Took away my pride.

Ooooo Ooooo

Ooooo Ooooo

It all began slowly, started like a dream.
It turned into a nightmare, flowing down a stream.
I shot again and dodged you.
I looked into your eyes.
I've given so much to you.
You never seem to die.
I hated more to spite you.
You lapped it up again.
Lost the way to right you.
I proved I will not bend.
I came and came and followed.
You took it all in stride.
Bit down hard and swallowed.
Took away my pride.

Ooooo Ooooo
Ooooo Ooooo

You took it from me, so I took it from you.
You showered me with hate, so my hatred grew.
I came and came and followed.
You took it all inside
Bit down hard and swallowed.
Took away my pride.

And so I throw it all away.

.  I really didn't think that people would take it so seriously, but I guess they did and I guess I misjudged what people found important in life.  My bad.

When it comes to GNR, people take everything seriously. There isn't anything in the world that was utter enough bullshit not to be considerd as a potential rumor by some desperate CD horny GNR fan. Smiley
It's easy to understand, considering GNR hasn't released anything since 1957 or so. The fact that Axl(not to mention other members) never, ever, ever  give any valid information themselves doesn't exactly help .So obviously fans feel a huge urge to somehow try to fill this void.

Few weeks ago there was this random shitty GNR  rumor thread here that had gone off topic ages ago. Just to entertain myself a little bit, i posted some truly absurd utter bullshit there.Something like:
" I have been on this board very long time so i don't lie. Something amazing is happening soon want proof? check this e-mail i got!"
*insert a screenshot from an ordinary wordpad file that has "sssshh, it is a secret - Axl"written on it.*
Theen, filled the entire post with some between the lines -stuff that really, really should have mae it clear that I am bullshitting.

But well, what do ya know, few people somehow manage to take it seriously, and i even get a PM from some dude who's asking if i know when CD is coming out:p Few hours later the thread gets deleted.

Moral of the story being, never underestimate the potential creativity and optimism of a desperate, news-horny mind.

There are quite a few others, "My Favorite Pillow" comes to mind as well.

Actually that is great song, so at least something good came up with that rumor Tongue

i must have forgotten or i just dunno what GNFR.com was? Huh

Looking at your registration date, you were about 2 years too late. Smiley

It happened back in '02.  There was a site with a series of riddles and shit that purported to be linked to GnR.  It was very odd.

A close second to that would be the Latigo Hammers "situation".

I guess it started in 2002, but it went on a lot longer than that.

This GNFR site would be updated with riddles and some people on this board as well as others started solving them.

Then Darknemus would be there hinting that it might be GN'R related, even after management said it wasn't. He'd post things like "I was poking around the GNFR.com site and it looks lie something's going on". Then magically a new riddle would appear.

The domain name had a fake WHOIS record, because it used the same address as gunsnroses.com did at the time. But the name was changed.

When we finally decided to pull the plug on advertising that fake site, Darknemus got really annoyed.

Along with that, he also claimed that Axl himself was in their GNFR Riddles MSN chatroom. It turned out to be a person in Finland and a cease & desist letter was issued by the lawfirm representing Axl.

Darknemus had all kinds of explanations on why Axl didn't know lyrics to his own songs, why his computer had a Finnish setup etc etc.

The most amusing one was that Axl bought his laptop used from Mike Monroe.

Eventually people woke up and realized it was all a game by people who had way too much free time.

HA!  I can't believe that someone still has that saved!

I'm a packrat...I never clean out my email box OR my PM box.....I've both going back to at least '02 (7000+ work emails (last time I checked), 1000+ emails in my personal box, and 27 pages of PM's...jarmo's probably going to start charging me for the PM space).

Smiley

See, being an unorganized mess can help sometimes!

I get nostalgic reading all this stuff. Cry It reminds me of why we all come here despite very little real news.

Danny and gnfr.com are the definite highlights, and yeah, the fat kid.

Does anybody remember the poster named "Pure" from gnrx.com?  He claimed to be an insider and posted all this information about the 02 tour, but none of it ended up being true.

True.   yes

Should we count this as the 7 year anniversary of Chinese Democracy ?
