A Place To Bury Strangers prep new material

New York psychedelic rockers recording new EP
1 hour ago

A Place To Bury Strangers are gearing up for the release of their first 'official' EP, currently being recorded at a studio in Brooklyn.

Speaking to NME.COM, drummer Jay Space revealed the band have been working on five new songs with producer John O'Mahoney, who is dividing his time between A Place To Bury Strangers and a certain Los Angeles rock band.

Space said: "He's doing the new Guns N' Roses record in the midst of doing ours, so he's going back and forth from LA to New York.

Space also admitted the band are in talks to release a 7" via Fucking Brilliant, the label owned by their friend Anton Newcombe of the Brian Jonestown Massacre.

He said of the potential collaboration: "He's been saying he wants to do it for six months to a year, but all our talks have been in bars so far."

Despite three previously self-released EPs, this will be the band's first 'official' EP to be made widely available.

Many producers, including O'Mahoney, also do mixing. In Fact, O'Mahoney did it for N*SYNC's "Celebrity," an album that featured Richard Fortus on guitar and bass.

God knows, but i presume the band hes talking about are based in LA....... if it is true then it confirms the rumour we heard a while back that Axl has 2 months worth of studio time booked in NY!

A Place To Bury Strangers are gearing up for the release of their first 'official' EP, currently being recorded at a studio in Brooklyn.

So that would mean that GNR is working in LA?

Since that band is recording in New York I would assume the Los Angeles part is for GNR. That is puzzling since Axl was supposed to be in NY. The other thing is this guy usually does mixing according to his track record. What happened to Wallace, I thought he was mixing the record? This guy hasnt recorded one major act he's only mixed them so I can't see GNR recording with him, only mixing.

Who said he was suposed to be in NY? He was just in the 90210 for the Fashion Show...he's probably still in Cali.

Who Anton?  Yeah when he kicked that dude in the face from the stage I stopped siding with him.  He is something of a sympathetic character though.  And he might have some musical talent its just overshadowed by the swirl of extracurricular activity.

Anyway I'm hoping this is old news and the record has been turned in.
