silverchair has that grunge rock sound that was real big from the seattle movement in the early 90s.  i'm not sayin its a bad thing or that they are better or worse than those other bands, but you can't deny thats the type of the music they are.

I'll take that challenge. ? ?Let me say that, first of all, I truly despised Silverchair, and thought they were the most blatant, Seatlle rip-off, generic sounding band to come along in a long, long time.

Then they put out "Diorama." ?I own it, love it, and still find myself listening to it more often that I ever thought I would. ?I can't say that they sound like a completely different band, but they definintely took several steps away from the grunge sound that they mimicked on their ?earlier albums. ?It's definintely woth a listen, and I can only hope that whatever album they're working on follows in "Diorama's" footsteps...

i haven't checked out their recent stuff, so ii'll take your word on that.   but the first couple albums have grunge written all over them.   some decent tunes tho.

I live in Newy where Silverchair come from. I saw their first show after the release of the Tomorrow single back in 1994. They played a 4 song set on Newcastle foreshore. It was sposda longer but the crowed tore down the barrier.

I used to really like em untill they released Neon Ballroom, then after that they went really gay n artsy. They were such a great grunge band untill Daniel stopped eating meat and started throwing paint brushes at the wall and calling it Art.

i love the new single Straight Lines, really great and shows they are not some stupid ripoff band of nirvana.
