For me, with a Mac, there is a  program Stuff it Expander that automatically converts  .rar  to some  other  format  of my choosing, mp3, or whatever. Rather convenient.

Well I downloaded it from there, and have had it for almost a year and it's working fine. Shouldnt be a problem. 

Yeah, I've had it past the trial period, and it tells me I'm past the trial, but it still works for anything I need it to (downloading .rar files and creating .rar directories to upload).
