I remember seeing it also, If I remember right it was shown on MTV. God that was a long time ago and I was way? young I am surprised I remember. If you look at the rape scene on Appetite's cover, the giant inflatable is the Red Monster jumping above the fence. I think it was a show from Brazil, and had Soundgarden as an opener, and Joe Perry and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith made an appearance.
You?re almost right ! This show you?re talking about was Paris?92. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry played Mama Kin and Train Kept Rollin? with GnR.
I think the giant inflatable appeared during WTTJ
I remember seen this in another concert from the European tour, but I don?t remember which country was it.

They never officially called it this but I always assumed the one on the album and the one at the shows was a '
Beast
.'
fwiw; the one at the shows was a little different. one thing being that the one at the shows had a penis for a tounge. the one on the album was prolly originally supposed to be that way too but could never have been on an album cover with a penis for a tounge.
I never noticed the penis, and i'm glad I didnt...
And no... The orginal was used exactly the way it was in the painting... Even that got banned
Yeah, you can see the penis at 1:47 to 1:55 in the youtube vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1e6KU-8IfxU
I was saying if the painting was done FOR the afd cover and didnt already exist it may have had a penis in it or the artist may have wanted to put one in the picture. and yes i'm aware that it didn't make it anyway. they were entering that sensitive era as the Guns career took off, eventualy resulting in no t-shirts alowed on mtv with band names on them which is why axl wears a shirt in Estranged that say 'DEEP' on it in purple letters.

It was at the Minneapolis show with Metallica for sure. The earlier post about it being under inflated makes me think of the Simpson's episode with Spinal Tap. The same thing happened, but they kept going with it, and said something like- "We salute you, our half-inflated god of evil!". Something like that, it was very funny.

I used to work for a major label band and right after the Estranged video came out we had to do a video for mtv and the producers told us strictly to not wear any tshirts with band names on them. theres other technicalitys too like you could wear a shirt that says REM on it as long as it's not in official logo form because r.e.m. stands for rapid eye movement.
its also funny that Guns had their album cover rejected just like ' smell the glove' was rejected in spinal tap

Except in Spinal Tap, the album was never released. Wheras pretty much anyone can get hold of the 'banned' cover of AFD.
Nice blow up though.

I saw the Coliseum show. It seems like it malfunctioned. Remember Axl being pissed and sitting down during YCBM?

ST was also a fiction band in a movie existing in the 80s. so i guess the conversation is kind of pointless. maybe if the band was real weed'a seen the 'smell the glove' cover by now too. thats all my point was.

That art work is cool. I wonder if the artist has a website? the inflatable does the art little justice.
