This is going way, way back to 2002 or '03, but I seem to remember Chinese Democracy being listed in a Best Buy with a release date of December 4th, but it could have been the 3rd.

In any case, the Chinese Democracy portion of the ad ended up being pulled, and of course, no album was ever released..

It was December 3rd, 2002. I was actually stupid enough to reserve a copy. Needless to say, i got my money back.

I think you're reading too much into it.   I think it was more like "Yes it'll be here before the end of the year" and "Europe will get it before the US, as per usual music release policies".     I don't think it was meant to specifically excluse Dec 26th.   It sounds as though they were never THAT close to begin with.

But it's hard to tell with so many people starting their own rumours for their own 15 minutes of fame, and so many people over analysing every little thing that was said/written.

We couldn't ask this at the time but what was the december release date? What tuesday was Chinese Democracy coming out?
Some people claimed they knew the exact date, but was there really a date or were the just lying? Did they really know something or were they just making it up?
And to those who "did" know the date... what did you feel like when this tuesday passed?

Every Tuesday at the end of 06 was the release date. Meaning there never was an official one, just possible ones.
