According to that Rolling Stone plea to Axl Rose by a "famous" singer, Madagascar is meant to be better than November Rain, he said he had heard the studio version and thats what he was basing his opinion on! The June release date is probably a guess, but as things stand at the moment there is no way March 6th is happening, Summer sounds more probable since Axl supposedly has another 3 months booked in a recording studio in NY.

We dont know Better is the first single, its pretty clear looking back that the Harley Ad was rushed, very rushed, they just took the Paradise City commercial and layed Better over the top of it. It was a last minute thing done by Merck to try and hit the original November/December release date. As for already having a video done for Madagascar, they probably assume that the recording you see played on the screens during the live performance of Maddy is from the video (see the VMA performance for reference)

New management, new approach..... hell the record company may not even want Better as the single.

Well, IMO, as far as ballads go, I have yet to hear a live version of NR, SCOM or Patience, that sound nearly
as good as their studio version counterparts....So its safe to say, the studio versions will elevate these songs, which
I already think are very solid.

In fairness it does not say Madagascar is the first single, just that Axl has a video for it. I'm with you though I think it's a load of shit and the writers probably made it up.
