Just thought we could do something like this while we wait for the announcement.  Tongue

So what do you guys think about the setlist after Chinese Democracy is released?

I think it will change ALOT. I think they will start off maybe playing half of the record, and then over time add more new songs in there. They will probably play about 8 old songs a night, compared to the usual 13 or 14 or whatever they did in '06. They will probably alternate with the old songs they played in '06 every night.

What do you guys think?

i dont think they will change anything.

maybe 1 or 2 more new songs and 1 or 2 old less... but the poeple is comming to hear the old ones first...

I think it will change a little bit, but not a whole lot.  A few more new songs, but a lot of classics too.   but its all speculation, you never know with Axl n GNR.  beer

I won't venture a "dream list" or anything as GNR would have to play for roughly 5 hours to comply with it.

Based on only songs I've heard, here's my guess/suggestion:

Intro Tape

Chinese Democracy
Live And Let Die
Mr. Brownstone
Dead Horse
You're Crazy (Lies Version)
IRS
Pretty Tied Up
Sweet Child O' Mine
Catcher In The Rye
Don't Cry
Rocket Queen
You Could Be Mine
Better
Knockin' On Heaven's Door
There Was A Time
Patience
November Rain
Madagascar
The Blues
Civil War
Nightrain

Encore:
Welcome To The Jungle
It's So Easy
Yesterdays
Estranged
Paradise City

I have a question for you guys, how would you feel if GnR eventually get to the point where they dont play the old songs, be it because they have ALOT of other hits, or some other reason.  Granted, if this ever does happen, it would be for many years.

Well Tommie,  Can't name a band off the top of my head that doesn't play some old songs no matter how many albums they have out.. so... that just won't happen bud... I  can say I would not mind dropping a few for some more new songs or other songs that are not on their current set list from the past couple of tours....

There'll definitely be a couple more new songs added to the set on top of the new songs that are played already- perhaps a third of the setlist or so will consist of new songs. What I'm curious about is this whole three-album concept that is apparently going to happen. What will it be like when all three are released (or should that be IF  Tongue). How will so much new material fit into a show? Is it Axl's plan to gradually remove all the old GNR material and replace it with his new band's music?

Possible new setlist - a bit out of the norm  Smiley:

Chinese Democracy (with that new intro could be potential show opener)
You Could Be Mine
Mr. Brownstone

-Axl says Good Evening-

Better
(new song)
The Blues
Rocket Queen
wttj
IRS
November Rain
It's So Easy
Civil War
(new song 2)
TWAT
Nightrain

-Encore-

Sweet Child O' Mine
Madagascar
Paradise City

add 9 or 10 solos in between, he should do fine.

it would only take them like 6 hours to finish the set.

What's the point in even doing upcoming concerts if they're not going to do songs we haven't heard yet.  Once the album is released there better be at least 4-5 songs that we don't know of right now in every set.

AFD: Jungle, Easy, Brownstone, City, Child
Lies: Patience
UYI:  Rain, KOHD, L&LD, YCMB

That's 10 songs, add 8-10 (at least 4 we haven't heard yet) new songs a night and you have 18-20 songs,

You still have room for 2-4 other songs from the old days; Crazy, Used to Love Her, Nightrain, Think About You, UTLH, Rocket Queen, maybe something they haven't played on the last few tours.

If 20-22 songs is too much for Axl to handle then I want to see some of the older songs taken out (do we really need L&LD still?)  Once CD is released the concert has to be around 50% new material, and it has to be new material that hasn't been released yet.  We've been living with CD and The Blues for 6+ years now, let's hear something new.

I'm expecting a real CD tour: mostly new material.

Consider all the effort to make this album, write these songs, etc. If they are really good, I think the band will be glad to play them instead of the old stuff and the public will be glad to hear them.

They can always put a SCOM or WTTJ in there for old time's sake..

I wasn't attempting to start anything, hence the goofy smiley face at the end of my post..
I did ask him if he had heard the song yet, because to my knowledge it has not been leaked as yet.
That was my question to him.....   nothing else..... is that more clear?

They should call it the "Appetite For Destruction World Tour"

And play mostly new songs.
