There are several songs from VR that I can Definatley hear Axl singing on Like "Slither","Set Me Free" and Especially "Come On Come in". To me, Those songs could be on a GN'R Album (If Gn'R were still together). Man, Just think of What We could of had if the old band was back together.  yes Anyone else notice some songs That Remind you of GN'R?

I remember first listening to Contraband and comparing it with GnR, the old Guns sound is still there and I could imagine Axl singing all VR songs. You can imagine what it'd sound like with Axl singing...fuckin awesome. Scott's a fantastic vocalist too but he hasn't the same range as Axl has when he's on form!

Hey thanks for actually responding to the thread? in a Sensible way.
unlike others who want to wine instead of actually contributing the a thread.

But Anyway, When I first listened to "Contraband" I thought it was the futhermost? thing from GN'R. But as I got use to it, I could hear alot of similarities to old GN'R. Especially Slash's Riffs. OMG, "Come on Come in" is one of the best Vocals of scott's (other than "Loving the Alien") IMO. VR is very different, But alot the same as old GN'R in some ways. I like it!

I've always thought the same thing about some of the Snakepit songs, not so much with VR though, personally I think Scott fits those songs a lot better than Axl would.

I contributed humour.  We all need it.  You do more than most it seems...

But in response... yeah... ... no.  I dont' think Contraband sounds at all like GnR.  I think VR sound like themselves.  They don't sound like GnR in my opinion.  I hope Slash is let out of the bag on Libertad.  Tho I do love contraband ... I was listening to tunes like Coma, and Locomotive, and Dont' Damn Me... these tunes are amazing Slash tunes, that only Slash could create... and I really wish he'd kick some of that shit out Smiley

I don't understand comments like this. Is there a need to even post? You understand what he was trying to say.

I love the new lineup of Guns N' Roses. But they are the new lineup. I really don't see any connection between GNR now and GNR then. They might as well be different bands. And they are! Maybe if the lyrics were different I could picture Axl singing over it. Scott's lyrics are sometimes strange

You obviously understood what the guy was trying to say and yet you choose to be rude and sarcastic.

As for the topic at hand... I really don't hear Axl singing on very many tracks. I think Matt's drumming kills Contraband... too robotic... so it's hard to picture Axl singing over it.

I dont understand comments like 'If GNR were still together' because GNR IS together.  I saw them 4 times this year.     When you make a comment like that, you just sound ignorant because GNR is very much alive and well.

GNR is not dead yet, you can always hope for a reunion. yes
But GNR is in a COMA right now, that is for sure. Cry

Things have been way worse in the past!

Now Axl has a band and he will release a record with that band after years of recording! Shocked
Slash and Duff have a band and they are recording another record and they will tour in 2007!? Cheesy
Izzy is joining Axl's band onstage a lot of times;? Cheesy
Even Steven has a band!? hihi

So, like I said, things have been way worse in the past!  rofl

I think parts of "Big Machine" sound a bit like "You Could Be Mine."

"Illegal I Song" sounds a lot like STP.

"Sucker Train Blues" is similar to "Garden of Eden"

"Set Me Free" also has a similar style to "It's So Easy."

I don't know what the big deal...you have a lot of the same members, of course, there's going to be similarities.

Sucker Train is the most GNR sounding song off Contraband.

I agree with that assessment, and I think it's the best track on the album.

BTW, congrats to all the bastards who've once again turned a reasonable thread into an old GNR vs. new GNR fight...withing the space of one page!

Is it ever possible to just talk about the music without the loonies on either extreme turning it into a fight?

No it's not possible here if the title of the thread contains words VR and Gn'R.. It's always the same idiots fighting about these things.

Yeah that's right, one different guitarist, thats all. Its old GnR without Axl if you look at it that way. They sound different cos they've Scott and Dave but they are the band that was Guns n Roses with Axl so...
