« on: January 31, 2007, 03:03:14 PM »

Thinking today driving into work and really hadn't put much thought behind it before today... (no comments please)
I was wondering since the track list is not 100% certain if there will contain any cover songs.
Putting some thought behind it, I do not want any covers on this album, I do want all original music and down the road on let's say the 2nd or 3rd release we can look at a cover or two.   One in mind is "Sailing" which I noticed they had played twice this past year on tour.   I enjoyed the way they covered that song but after so long, I am greedy and want all originals... Would it disappoint if there was a cover on there?

where does everyone else stand on this subject?

IMO, There will be no covers. After all these years, they better be all originals. ? ?drool

Well with recent rumors.. I'll take a cover song over songs that Axl had to work with a song writer for any day of the week.

I definitely don't want covers on this record. Maybe, if it's two discs, or 16 + songs, then I could live with one, but even then, it'd have to be something really ass-kicking such as " Achilles Last Stand " or something like that.

I'd much rather have a studio cover of "Sailing" on CD, than "Oh My God"

While I love the covers they've done in the past, I'd rather see all new material.  I agree that covers might be interesting as b sides, though.

That's where I was on the fence at first... they do a great job covering but we've all waited too long for so called covers..     b side... yeah ok.... or like I said 2nd or 3rd new album release.. fine.. one or two total.... go forward from there..

I wouldn't mind seeing Sailing pop up - That was a cool song.

Anything else though, no way - The GNR catalogue is comprised of way, way, way, way too many covers already.

I agree, if its gonna be a cover on the CD I would love to hear Sailing. I actually hope that Sailing will be on the record, not on the cost that they remove one of the original songs though.

That would be a disappointment if there was a cover song on an album we've been waiting 4 for so long.

as Risico said earlier,  "Anything else though, no way - The GNR catalogue is comprised of way, way, way, way too many covers already. "

I would have to agree and that is why I said maybe on the second or third release we could see one or two..

i second that motion, although i'd still prefer neither.  a cover would kind of reduce the epic mystique of "the legendary chinese democracy."

Doubt Axl would put covers on an album he's slaved over for 9 years or whatever it is.. Besides, in '02 didn't someone say there were no covers on it?

I'm hoping for all originals. If they wanna include a couple of covers on a bonus disc or something, that'd be cool.

all the tracks on CHINESE DEMOCRACY are original, the track list that we got not to long ago that had, what like 14 songs on it, i think that will be it or something like it. Even though it was only a rumor.

After 16 years between original materials, and with 2 covers on that no less, and a full album of covers, I'm thinking it will be all orignal Lips Sealed
