session work (fortus) and collaboration (slash) are very very very different
in session you are forced to do what the producer wants.. for anyone, collaborations are free and by your own choice

Slash needed Axl to become famous

This place gets a little comical at times.  no

Who the hell was Axl Rose before Slash came into his life? Last I checked neither of them hit it big until they found eachother, and Duff, Izzy and Steven. Some people have consumed a little too much of the Kool-aid over the years in terms of the Messiahnic qualities they have assigned to Axl.

can anyone say washed-up sell-out?

Contraband - 2X Platinum/#1 Billboard Top 200
"Fall To Pieces" - #1 Mainstream Rock Tracks/#2 Modern Rock Tracks
"Slither" - #1 Mainstream Rock Tracks/#1 Modern Rock Tracks/Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance

 ok

Can you say owned  rofl

classic.

btw, slash is a bit of a sell out, but he is far from washed out.

Plus slash wrote music with axl and izzy which owns modern gnr tunes we have heard.

Sell-out?  How do you determine that?

And you can save unnecessary VR/GNR comparison, its extremely tired.

I know this, but last I checked no one outside of LA knew who they were until the Appetite line-up came together. That only bolsters the point further that it wasn't all Axl responsible for making the others famous, because he was playing dive bars with Izzy until the other 3 came along and they took over the world.

His mug would have been all over MTV if the pre-Duff/Slash/Steven stuff was any good. Fame didn't come until they all came together, not the other way around as the original poster was trying to make it seem.

Stay on topic.

Save the VR/GNR shit for another forum and the personal back and forth to PM's.

Now.

I saw it on youtube a couple of days ago and although I'm a huge fan of Slash, it's pure crap and Slash should have rejected the offer. The problem isn't with his playing: Slash does what he usually does as a guest musician: a quick improvisation. (I remember that Lemmy interview where he said that Slash came to play something on their record, and he hadn't heard the song but sat down and played a cool solo while hearing the song for the first time.) But with this Paulia Rubio song he touched the bottom. It's a shame he contributed to this.

while watching the video......what crossed my mind is that slash and his image has become something like a brand, if you know what I mean......

the artist will say .....my record will do ok, but if I "buy " Slash to play my record I will boost my popularity......and I mean popularity, there was no real focus on the solo itself.

that so god damn correct hihi i probably love finck more then slash (don't bash me) but really it seems like the lovers of new-gnr are hating on slash, they should pay him some respect instead of saying there was a gnr before slash true, the bands name was gn'r before slash came but that's kinda it

This song and video sucks.

Slash's solo is not that good, it could be one taken a song from The Calling.

It's sad Slash went for this ...
