A Van Halen reunion tour, with David Lee Roth back in the fold after 22 years, is in the works, with a Las Vegas launch looking good.

A late April date at the Palms' new venue, The Pearl, is "99 percent" likely, a source said.

It would be the latest coup for Palms owner George Maloof, who will open the 2,500-seat venue with a lineup that includes Tool, Evanescence, Gwen Stefani and possibly Van Halen, all in the first month.

A 40-date tour is being discussed.

Roth fronted the band from 1974 to 1985 before going solo. He was close to rejoining about 11 years ago, but a blowup caused another rift.

Van Halen's last tour, in 2004, grossed about $40 million, with Sammy Hagar as the lead.

Tool would open the Palms venue March 16-17, Evanescence would follow on March 17, and Stefani is set for the April 21 grand opening.

I'm not sure of the timing, but....

The reunion is going to happen...provided Eddy or Dave doesn't go off the deep end in the near future and fuck it up.

There's already contact going on to area promoters about late spring/early summer stadium shows....nothing concrete, but contact.

They have tried and tried to get this to work.  Its not gonna.  Eddie hates Roth.  And now Micheal Anthony is out and replaced by Eddies son, which wont go over well with old school fans.

Eddie's behavior the past 10 years is scary-I know Roth does not help, but you read some of the things Michael Anthony has said lately and Sammy's comment's, and you hear about Eddie's drinking-he was sober for a bid during the Balance and VH 3 period (or so he claims)-it should be interesting anyway-from what it seems he has wanted to replace Michael Anthony for a long time-Roth mentioned in his book Eddie was looking to replace him after the Balance tour

Eddie's behavior is worse than Roths recently, which is kinda ironic.

This is gonna be one disaster after another. They'll be fighting, perhaps onstage. And Wolfgang will be off crying in the corner somewhere backstage. I hope they're getting big bucks for the trouble.

Van Halen had their time. It just doesn't make sense to make a comeback. I mean, they can't even get along, off course they won't make good new material.

Since they're getting inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame soon, to me, it's the perfect time for a comeback.  The question is, can they put all the craziness aside long enough to make it work?

No, because Axl has proved me he can still write good songs.
