Excerpt from a 2005 Beenafix.com interview with JJH producer Eddie Asworth:
"There was no real plan. Jimmy, Rick, Charlie and Izzy just played the tunes and sorted out their parts till it sounded right. During recording, we all put our heads together to select the master take that felt the best. The basic tracks were always live takes, with Charlie, Jimmy, Rick and Izzy all playing together.
During overdubs, Rick would generally play a few takes of his solos and leave it to me to composite the best bits. Izzy would check out the comp and would generally like the result. There were a couple of songs (
Somebody Knockin?
in particular) where Mark Ford played on them as well and I had to sort out his and Rick?s parts and make them fit together. The first solo on the song is actually a comp of Mark and Rick?if you listen closely you can hear where one switches from one to another."
And yeah it's the Black Crowes Mark Ford.. Izzy got in touch with him via Jimmy Ashurst, and I also believed at the time they weren't living far apart from eachother. Mark along with Steven Tyler wanted Izzy to write some songs with them but Izzy declined cause it felt a little to strange at the time back then or something.

Marc Ford is one of the best players out there today. I never knew he was on JuJu Hounds. That's pretty awesome. I guess it makes sense, Ashurst ran with a lot of the same guys Ford did back in the Burning Tree days if I'm not mistaken.
