I'm a Mac user since '99 when I got my first computer (an iMac). Alot of folk's reasons for not liking the Mac stem from ignorance; things like saying Macs are slow (they probably used the 8 year old iMac in a computer lab that was never maintained), or like someone said earlier in the thread about needing to use iPhoto to change your background (this is not true at all, to change my background in OS X, I right click and select "change desktop background".

The picture I had in mind was originally on consumption junction: enough said. As for lefties, I find that Macs are popular with limousine liberals, the same kind of people who spend $8 for a cup of Fair Trade Certified Organic No Till Coffee. I'll take the 50 cent coffee, $2000 pickup truck, and $800 PC that can outperform a $2000 Mac, thank you.  Grin

A true liberal who isn't absolutely clueless is rare, but those who exist would use a cheap PC so they could buy a dozen OLPCs for 3rd world children. Unbelievably, I think is a great idea in the long run, much better than providing food, or even birth control. Information is key for the 3rd world (and everyone else, for that matter) to improve.

As a whole, the cheap altruist tends to use Linux computers. Macs are useful for some VERY specialized tasks, granted, but they're mostly for poseurs with too much money on their hands. Limousine liberals.  Grin

i really like the look of the new macs and they really save a lot of space, i was amazed when i saw that the whole computer is just the monitor.  and i dont play games so i think a mac would be my next computer if i ever buy one.  right now im usin a good ol dell dimension 8250 from back in like 2000, big black box monitor and tower.  its still holding up great and i use it basicly for reading stuff on internet, downloading and listening to music and videos.

i definitely prefer a mac. ive used a pc my whole life and still use a pc at work. but when it came time to buy a new computer, i bought a mac for final cut pro. i bought it about 2 years ago and have yet to have a problem with it. i still keep my old pc handy for certain programs that dont work on a mac, but besides that mac hands down.

I've been using Macs for 20 years and always will. Can't imagine my life without one.
My wife prefers PC and has a Dell.
We still have a happy family and sleep together quite nicely.  Wink

I think you're mixing Windows and PC...

I prefer PCs for the widest range of programs available needed at my school. Also prefer them because I play games from time to time, and they can be customized a whole lot more easily.

I do understand if a person wants to use macs though.
