Well, it is fairly common knowledge how Axl got his name (the band A.X.L, his parents, etc) and how Slash came to be, and even Duff for that matter, but how on earth did Jeff Isbell come to be Izzy Stradlin?  I've never seen it mentioned anywhere, and possibly since Izzy Stradlin is relatively normal, most people assume it to be his real name.  But it's not.  So, any thoughts?

Um sorry i thought i hadn't posted this.  I did a search half way through writing the first post and it seems that it's probably like a joke.

So Izzy, while being derived from Isbell, is also like Is He.

So, for instance, Is He Stradlin(g).  Stradling being a position for fucking.  Or possibly he thought it just sounded cool, i dunno.

As far as I know...

When Duff was in a band called the Fartz, they all chose names that had some relevance to flatulance, so he chose Duff, and it stuck.

Slash was given his name by a family friend whose name i can't remember.  Anyway he said that Saul Hudson was "always in a hurry, and moving around from one place to another" so was nicknamed Slash, and it stuck.

That's as far as i can remember, anyway.

Slash was called Slash by a friend of his dad because he was always in a hurry running around.

Duff was called Duff by his parents at a young age as a nickname, because in his street block there where a lot of kids called Michael.

Izzy was first Izzy Isbell in Hollywood Rose, then he was called Izzy Bell, then Izzy Dead and finally it became Izzy Stradlin, Stradlin after the sex position Wink
