For all of your who are great Photoshopping these pics of Axl and the band. How does one get good with Photoshop? I own it and know nothing about it, I was wondering if people who are good with it can give me some suggestions as to resources to learn from?
I'd like to give back some cool artwork and wallpapers.
In my experience, the key to becoming proficient with Adobe Photoshop (as with so many other things) is through patience, repetition, and exploration.? First, decide what applications you're interested in using the program for, and then begin there.? I would suggest that you start by learning ten basic techniques and then slowly build upon those skills through repetition.? The learning curve will probably seem steep at first, so again be patient with yourself, be creative, and don't be afraid of making mistakes... mistakes are how most of us learn.? In time, you'll probably look back and be amazed at how simple many things really are.?
Also, you'll probably discover that there's seemingly ten different ways of doing the exact same thing.? So, find a method that works best for you and stick with it until you feel more confident in your abilities, and then try some of the alternative methods.
If possible, I would highly recommend that you take a digital photography or graphic arts class, preferably one with other students, as you'll probably learn more from each other than anything or anyone else.?
However, if that's not an option, or if you'd like to go it alone, I'd suggest starting out with the official 'Adobe Photoshop Classroom in a Book' series.? Granted, some of the book/ CD-ROM lessons can be a bit monotonous, but if can find a way to apply what you've learned, and turn it into something that inspires you... there's no limit to what you can accomplish.
I hope that helps.
Cheers,
W.R.? ?
