Here Today...

« on: January 18, 2007, 02:46:28 PM »

This is from a month ago...
Last December I went to a Deep Purple gig at Buenos Aires n' when Steve Morse was playin' his guitar solo, he started with the riff of SCOM n' Ian Paice (drummer) n' Roger Glover (bass) joined him for an instrumental version... that was kick ass! Then the band continued jamming in some classical acts during the guitar solo as Back iN Black (AC/DC), Stairway To Heaven (Led Zep's) n' Voodoo Child (Hnedrix)... terrible guitar solo!
It's very common that new bands covered some GN'R songs or jamming on it because the gunners were very important in thei childhood as influences but that a Classic metal gods like Deep Purple do it seems like Gn'R just has the status of Classic rock band of the history...  beer

True, the old GNR was great and the music made by them will live on for a long time.

yes, but not in every show: I saw DP last year here in Italy and he didn't play SCOM, but it was a GREAT gig

Yeah, he played Moby Dick instead of SCOM in the show I was. But was great too. Smiley

But of course, it's only SCOM intro... It's quite a tribute to some classic rock stuff.

I'd love to hear that !
It's great when pre-GNR bands give a nod to GNR... especially a band as influential as Deep Purple
