*Not directed at you CB, but the article*
Tracii Guns is a bona fide rock star and if you haven't heard of the first and third bands he formed, LA Guns and Brides of Destruction, you will know his second - Guns N' Roses.
If Tracii Guns was such a bonafide rock star, then the article wouldn't have to name so many bands before people remembered him.
In another life it could have been Tracii Guns up there with Axl Rose instead of Slash, but the guitarist stands by his decision to quit the band.
Then he's a stupid ass. Who stands by their decision to 'quit' Guns N' Roses, pre-Appetite For Destruction?
'If I had stayed with Axl I don't know if Guns N' Roses would have been any better or worse but I think it would have been a very different band,' said a laid- back Guns from a hotel room in Camden. 'We would have had a bit more fire.
Last time I checked Slash is a FUCKING LEGEND. Where's your legend-status Tracii?
If your fire was so hot Tracii, why wasn't LA Guns bigger than GN'R?
'But the key to that band's success was Axl because at that time his singing really connected with people on a social level.'
It couldn't of been the brilliant lyrical writing, the instrumental sound that Slash, Duff & Izzy brought, and the overall attitude of a band that could put on the most brillaint musical performance you've ever seen, yet be dead in an alley the next day of an OD? That life on the edge. Live fast, die young.
GN'R was successful, because people were fucking tired of LA Guns and their 'Ballad of Jayne' type songs, polluting the fuckin' airwaves.
Since the bitter divorce of the Axl/Slash partnership, Rose has become a real enigma and is notoriously difficult to deal with, something Guns knows first-hand.
Really? Last time I checked Slash spent, what, 10 years around Axl vs. Tracii's 3 years. I think Slash knows a slight bit more.
'I don't wish him ill, but it's hard because he never stops saying bad things about me.
Huh? Tracii I haven't heard your name uttered since like 1988.
'He was on my MySpace page doing that very recently.
No he wasn't.
'Axl's problem is that if people don't support him 100 per cent in what he's doing, he just doesn't want to know them any more.
And that's the way it should be. The guy has experienced his entire life with people being 'one foot in / one foot out' in his life. It's not unreasonable at all for him to want someone to back him 100%. By forcing people away from him, he's actually helping them.
Why waste your time, fighting everyday over musical direction, when you can just part ways and do your own thing?
'He's so talented but that talent comes from being a nervous wreck and some place in your head you need to be happy, which he isn't.'
How do you know that when you haven't talked to him in nearly 20 years. Funny, in 2006 Axl seemed happier than ever... including the old days.
Guns' subsequent career saw him play with an array of bands including WASP, Poison and Faster Pussycat, and also enjoyed real success with Brides Of Destruction which he formed with Motley Crue drummer Nikki Sixx. But none of his other project has matched the success of Guns N' Roses.
Brides of Destruction were never successful. How can that band be compared to the success of LA Guns and/or Motley Crue?
'I do think about it,' said the open and likeable guitarist.
I guarantee you, that you think about it Tracii. And when you think about it, your usually in the basement, standing on a chair, looking at a noose in front of you.
