Here Today...

« on: January 15, 2007, 11:36:35 PM »

I was just thinking to myself, that a few years ago Megadeth were on tour and on their site they put all there songs on a list, and they let you vote for what songs you wanted them to play in the city you were going to the concert at. Well what if GN'R did this? You go to their website, and they give you a list of every GN'R song on CD, and they let you choose up to 20 songs for the show that you are going to. Each city's set list is going to be different which is always good, and we'll get to hear a lot of the songs that we all want to hear again like Estranged, Don't Cry, Coma, etc...  Just thought I'd see what everyone thinks.

Right now everyone will pick old songs and that will do squat for the new album with the new band... After a couple of new albums, it might be a good idea... Just so we can have a good mix of old and new songs!!

If they put up a poll on the website and you could vote an unlimited amount of times it would probably go like this:

Jungle
Nightrain
Brownstone
PC
Estranged
Don't Damn Me
Locomotive
Breakdown
Don't Cry
Coma
November Rain
Better
The Blues
There Was A Time
Catcher In The Rye
Prostitute
The General
Sorry
This I Love

Cool idea, although Guns has always been a band that plays what they want to play.

I'd probably want 2/3 of the new album live, with Jungle, OTGM, PC, Nice Boys, Perfect Crime NR, Civil War, Yesterdays, Estranged, YCBM & Down On The Farm thrown in.

If GNR had let every fan purchasing a ticket vote for the last tour, that would have made the pretty much same setlist to the actual one we got, I think.

I agree.. i wouldnt include anything we havent heard yet....I dont understnad the hard on people have for these mysterious songs in a live setlist....They would have to include some gems from the Illusions...they pretty much covered Appetite and Lies for the most part,,,but alot of the Illusions is missing in the live show...Dont Cry, Estranged, Locomotive, Coma, DTJ,Perfect Crime, Civil war are all songs I would love to hear live, but they play to a more general audience now...and alot of the fans might not even know about Estranged...let alone Coma.....

I'd rather have the band enjoy themselves and play what they want instead of being forced to play certain songs. Them doing what they want is what makes the atmosphere.

I think that's a sweet idea, too bad more bands don't do that....even if they played just a few fan selected songs that are a little more random would be pretty fuckin?sweet...  smoking

Exactly. And I really didn't have a full grasp on this until I saw a show. Although crowds have been positively receptive to the new stuff, they are paying GN'R to play the classics in their mind. They wanted to hear most of Appetite.

No offence meant but whats with this love of down on the farm? Its one of the weakest songs on TSI and Axls accent is appalling! Im in agreement that we would pretty much end up with the setlist we got and if every ticket buyer got to vote for songs we probably wouldnt even hear any leaked tracks never mind obscure "rumoured" songs that have ben tipped by Sebastian "Fruit Loop" Bach!

Gotta be honest with you bro, that's a minority opinion. Most GN'R fans feel Down On The Farm is the strongest track on TSI. I think it's ONE OF the strongest tracks. I was always partial to Human Being & Hair of the Dog.

no not really....all we have are titles of songs...we dont even now if they are good....i would much rather hear songs that I know when I go to a show....after CD comes out...then im sure I will be voting for CD songs....Ive seen GNR 6 times...and the setlist was very similiar all 6 times...i dont need new songs to have a good time at a show...i would rather hear the new band play Coma, Estranged or Civil War....I am one of the few people on this board who was not bitching about the setlist last year....

Maybe they're good, maybe they're not. Most likely they are, and I for one would like to find out. Coma, Estranged etc. sure, that goes without saying. Doesn't mean it wouldn't be fun to throw out LALD, KOHD, OTGM and put in some fresh material on top of that. Album or no album.

Thats cool, i guess its just personal opinion. Human Being and Hair of the dog definitely tho, also Raw Power....all good.
