they are a hair band from the late 80's. they were fairly big. the video for girls school got alot of play. decent song and it had a smokin hot chick in it.

they were from philly. played a huge show with bon jovi in japan (i think). and toured with cinderella when they were at their peak.

Oh yeah.  Fond memories of them w/ Cinderella.  They burned out pretty quickly, but also had a good few moments in the spotlight.  They pretty much epitomize the best/worst of the Cheese/Hair Metal movement...

C'mon now.  "Worse" is such a relative term in terms of cheese metal.  If you're talking about the most glorious, cheese-laden elements of the genre AND upping the ante with a religious angle, then it gets no better than Stryper.

However, if you're checking religion at the door, then there's much to discuss in terms of "bad" cheese metal.  Danger Danger, for instance, whose orignal album included other double titles such as "Naughty Naughty" and "Bang Bang."

And yes, I owned it, and still listen on occasion.   peace

I use the word 'worse' loosely hihi

I'm a big fan of hair metal but Stryper really were pushing it even by my rather warped standards of musical quality hihi

Again, phrases such as "pushing it" and "warped tastes" - when applied to hair metal - can have a variety of meanings, good and bad.   Even better, it's the one musical genre that can truly have the "double-edge sword" effect, being so bad that it's good ("Don't treat me bad" - Firehouse), and so good that it's just...well, awful ("Cherry Pie").   I was far from a Stryper fan, but I bow down to the fact that they combined religion and those ridiculous bumblebee-striped outfits and actually made it all work...

LONG LIVE 80's METAL!!

« Reply #11 on: January 18, 2007, 09:26:40 AM »

Hell all these albums in question are currently on my Ipod and i listen to them daily(almost). I am a huge fan of the 80's metal (since i grew up in the 80's) and i really got into Brittny Fox after seeing the vidoe for Girlschool and Long Way Too Love is my favorite song by them.

As for Stryper the where HUGE in the 80's selling out shows where ever they went. I did buy the albums but was one of those bands you could not share with your fellow metal heads. TO HELL WITH THE DEVIL is there best album.

Danger Danger where actually pretty good in concert seen them once.

Britny Fox is cool. I've always liked them. If you wanna talk cheese metal, and in a really hilarious way, Grim Reaper. Just...everything about that band.

JVD - i forgot about grim reaper. nice call.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5_YbnaTB8A

the bass player and drummer from Britny Fox played in a cover band in philly for years called lecompt. i used to hang out with them alot. the first hand stories were classic - the parties, drugs, chicks, the strip....good stuff.  hihi

You got to love Grim Reaper! My favorite songs by them are See You in Hell, Fear No Evil and Suck It And See It. Oh yeah who could forget their big hit Rock You to Hell. Nick Bowcott is one hell of a guitar player, seen him play live demonstrating Dean Guitars he plate for about an hour just him and a drum machine and that dude rocked.
