I think Axl knew what the future was gonna be like in '91, look he predicted it:

"Don't hail me
An don't idolize the ink
Or I've failed in my attentions
Can you find the missing link
Your only validation is living your own life
Vicarious existence is a fucking waste of time
So I send this song to the offended
I said what I meant and I've never pretended
As so many others do intending just to please
If I damned your point of view
Could you turn the other cheek"
 hihi

But seriously, those lyrics creepily apply to the current state of the album and some of the fans.
In my opinion of course.

I don't think Axl necessarily predicted the future, but he may have intended things to go like this.  You know the old addage, distance makes the heart grow fond.  Time does that too.  I always felt that Axl's photo in the Spaghettu Incident booklet portended a great deal.  He is sitting in the director's chair.  His face and intentions are concealed.  I initially thought he was just ashamed of the album.

Anyway, while we wait, check out the Crass Communication thread under dead horse.  We've got some hilarious Fun N' Games going on.  Anyone is welcome to join....

Now that you mention that picture, I can see that. I dont think he was ashamed of that record though. Those are the songs he grew up on.

Chinese Democracy Is Coming Some Day!!!

« Reply #6683 on: December 11, 2006, 04:42:29 PM »

i had this image the other day of the most dramatic (but impossible) promotion

You sitting at home, watching prime time TV. Suddenly all the power goes off apart from the tv which remains blamk for 10 seconds, then

"19 years ago...one band, changed the face of music, FOREVER

Now, 13 Years after their last album

THEIR BACK!

GUNS N' ROSES (plays clips of new songs)

Chinese Democracy

Coming December 19th

and on every channel its the same
Then all power returns and lights come back on and normal TV resumes.

doesnt the thought of that send a shiver down your spine?
I think what would scare the shit out of me for the fact all the power went out but my tv still managed to work.

I can't even imagine how a link was made between the Don't Damn Me lyrics and the current state of the album.

I can see a link between IRS lyrics and the current state of this thread. Cheesy

Apart from the fact that that's impossible, I would find it terrible.

This new band is supposed to be about the music. I hope they would just release the music like every other band does instead of some sick marketing that has the fans getting their hopes up and down constantly.

Just read them, its not that hard to comprehend.

I wasn't implying I couldn't comprehend it, I was implying it didn't make sense.

Hey. While we're in this thread; got any thoughts on the release date of Chinese Democracy?

While I'm still holding onto the hope that CD will be out this year, I think we can pretty much rule out tomorrow. I just talked to the manager of this little store where I live called CDepot, and he said that he hasn't heard anything about the new Guns N' Roses record. Only reason I say this is because that store always puts their new releases out the Saturday before they actually go on sale. I guess it's still possible for them to get a shipment in tonight or early tomorrow morning, but that's highly unlikely considering the guy I talked to has heard nothing in regards to a release date for the new album. Just thought I'd pass on the info.  Wink

You people that think that the album is coming out tomorrow realize that its impossible, right?

Merck has said that the album will follow normal rules and it will be out the day before in Europe.

We'd know if it was out already because our British and European friends would be bragging today that they heard the CD before anyone else!  hihi

Really? Where and when did he say this? Thats news to me ...

And Axlfan, if he did have the little blighter in the back, he wouldn't tell you cause he doesn't know himself (there would be just a box there saying do not open).

i don't think he said normal rules, just that it would be a typical release as far as releasing the day before in europe etc..etc..
