I've read though this entire thread, obviously over a span of time, and I have to say that the criticism is def. warranted. Like, seriously, why the hell should we still remain optimisic and happy when we were told that the CD was coming out so many times and we STILL don't have it. I love Guns N' Roses, the music is amazing.. past AND present.. but this is getting a little old. Some of you might remain loyal to the band regardless of when this album comes out, like myself, but others WILL stop liking the band and give up on them if they don't fulfill the release date of this year like they told us they would.

I think the band knows what they're doing and I think they'll let us know about their plans when they are ready.
Going by that then the band doesnt really know what there doing because Axl said that it will be out by years end. And it doesnt happen does that mean they didnt know what they were doing and it wasnt actually ready?

By saying 06 was the year, people take that as "things are ready"

I was gonna post something here, but it's no use. We keep going around in circles.

"But they said 2006!  Angry "

So, what's the latest rumored date from that source of official release date information called HMV?

Am I making it up? Did they not say it? Should I pick and choose what they say and accept some of it while just shrugging off other things?

If I remember correctly Axl and Merck have stated the album will be out by years end, not HMV or any other source. Straight from there lips

Jarmo, I am not trying to kiss your ass. I will say, none the less, you are always a voice of reason. You would make a good manager, all jokes aside. Thanks for being the one guy to always have a grip on reality. (and your patience)

Yeah! They sure existed this weekend!

They can continue to exist in this state (touring, playing AFD + UYI hits + new unreleased music) for a long time because we will buy tickets because we are fans.

But if you think that is a good enough reason for existence, good for you man.   I just wanted better for them, but that's just me and what I want.  It cant possibly be what the band wants.

What I meant is that people will keep repeating that line over and over again. Just like the quotes from previous years.

It doesn't matter what I post.

I could post like you about, how I'm sad it is that there's no album out and how horrible this band is to its loyal fan until my face was blue, but would it help?

This could pass for one of Davegnfnr2ks old posts - making an implication you cant support because its simply untrue.

Instead I move on and focus on what we have and not what we don't have.

For some fucked up reason, I can appreciate what I have instead of going on and on about something that I don't have or something that's out of my control.

That ability doesnt exactly extend to certain related bands apparently...but youve essentially confirmed what I said: nothing this band does could draw criticism from you.

Almost nothing involving this band is in our control, well still continue to comment on them.  The central issue is whether those comments can be critical, and if that criticism is justified.  Do you think fans are justified in criticizing the band/management for stating the album will be out in 2006 and sticking with it if the albums not coming out?

If I say "yes", I'll be labeled a gullible idiot. Well, I'm labeled an idiot anyway.....
If I say "no", people take that as some kind of "confirmation" as you saw earlier.

I remain positive. I think the band knows what they're doing and I think they'll let us know about their plans when they are ready.

Okay, so since youve chosen to believe them, would a lack of statement addressing the release by the end of the year affect their credibility to you?

But I don't believe in the surprise release strategy. I think that was a joke.....

I think it was intended to be a joke to, but if they release the album this month, theyll be doing it with no more than three weeks notice, likely less, so itll be a virtual surprise release anyway.

others WILL stop liking the band and give up on them if they don't fulfill the release date of this year like they told us they would.

seriously?  people are going to, what? throw out all their gnr cds?  change the station when they come on the radio?  deny themselves the chance to see them live?  not buy the album when it comes out and deny themselves what they wanted all along?  i don't think you can force yourself to stop liking something you like.  imo, people can piss and moan all they like, but when it comes down to it, they like the music and they'll gladly accept what they're given.

Why are they repeating it Jarmo? Because they have nothing else better to do? These promises are coming from the band, not some lawyers friends moms sister in idaho.

I have always shared the same viewpoint that your conveying now. But for me personally, its getting to be too much. If Axl said they are going on tour and the album will be out when its ready{like he has stated in the past}, this wouldnt even be an issue. But it goes back to them saying its done and will be out this yr. And as a bigtime fan, I feel like they owe me a sincere and truthful explanation why they couldnt deliver it this yr. If they do then Ill move on and wait for the next quarter....

It seems Axl was just after your money and wanted you to believe that an album was coming out so go see the band! Like Younggunner said..  All he had to say was it will be out when its ready..

I expect a statement by the end of the year explaining in rather vague terms why the album isn't finished. It could be the label's concerns, or the desire to get Ron and Frank in the mix, or perhaps just more re-recording.  They will probably say that they fought tooth and nail to finish it for 06 but could not because of some 'external reasons. ' If they fail to acknowledge this, then they are making a dishonest mistake.

I find it extremely disappointing that the fans were led to believe that the US Tour would be in support of an album. The rather high ticket prices seemed justifiable for me b/c of the promise to hear what others had not yet heard. To witness a significant moment in the history of this new band.

However as it stands, it appears the new guys will have to make another US leg to support the album in 07. The question will be, whether the mainstream fans who came to see the old stuff make the trip again to watch Axl? The album better be historically good to get people to come back in the numbers that Axl needs to suceed.

So can we say (without being called a hater or a whiner), that if they continue to make vague teasing remarks about the album,  the reason for their existence is a cash grab?  (yah, we call it "playing music" as a euphemism).
