I'm old enough to understand that not everything goes the way you want them in life. So most things are "acceptable" because it doesn't really help to keep looking back and whining when things don't go your way

/jarmo

But we both know its not a case of things simply not going our way.

In business and pleasure peoples integrity is based on respect and kept promises. I dont cancel meetings with colleagues or friends... leaving them in the dark and constatnly changing plans... so i dont see how it should be acceptable for a rock band to do that.

Yes we its "only" an album but the band NEED a fanatical fan base and keeping us in the dark does notthing positive.

If they had a date. Had a count down. IT would put them back on the map for casual fans and give us hardcore fans a bit of faith and pride in GnR again.

See it worries me you think it would be acceptable to let 2006 ring out with zero notice.

I would be incredibly unfair on the fans to just ignore us until 2007 when they said 2006. That realyl worries me that you even consider that a possibility!

I consider all the possibilities.  Tongue

You don't think it would be disrespectful to the fans to have them expect a surprise release on Christmas day, only to be left disapointed (on that day specially...)? Because that's exactly where their words lead us.

If you set a date with a person, for some reason you might not make it; that's life. But if you at least don't give that person a heads up before, you can't expect them to ever talk to you again, because you showd you have zero respect for them.

I guess respect is not a word that goes both ways around here.

I would think it to be related to the fact that you seemed to ignore the essence of my question, which I feel came across very clearly. If it wasn't aimed at me, why was it then put under my quote? I don't know how else to take it then. That's what quotes are for right?

It doesn't really matter anyway. I'm not into arguing semantics. There were alot of other questions I posed, but if you don't want to answer them I have no need for further bickering.

I don't think this year is anywhere close to 2003, 2004 or 2005 for that matter.

If you think it is, then I feel sorry for you.

Then you focus too much on the album's release in my opinion.

/jarmo

That I think we can agree on. Not the too much part, but the album part. To me it would be ok if GN'R never went on tour again as long as I got the chance to hear studio music.

Edit: Let me rephrase that. If I had the choice between seeing them on tour another time, or have the album, I'd chose the album.

I have to disagree with you there Polluxlm (the part about never touring again).  They gave such a great show in Minneapolis on Saturday it was incredible.  I know that everyone cannot get to one of the shows but it is sure the fix you need to get over the wait for the CD.  I'm good for a while. hihi

The reason I focus on the album is that I want the *new* band to stand on its own feet.  Of course I'm happy to see them play AFD songs and a smattering of new songs - it's great to see them live and having fun.  But just that alone, without a firm indication of an album release, makes them nothing but a tribute band.  I have more respect for the new guys than that.

But as you said, and keep saying, whining about it will not make it happen, so I can only watch and wait to see if they can rise above being a tribute band. In the meantime, I can gratefully listen to the boots we have from the new shows.

I guess to me it's more about the art than the rock n' roll. I'd rather sit alone in my apartment and enjoy some great music than rocking out with fellow fans. Yeah, I know hihi

they've used the album's name and the promise of it to lure people into paying money for a tour
A tour which is set to continue and a tour which is playing a good percentage of album

Maybe 38% of 13 songs,

or 19% of the 26 songs that were nearly complete early this year,

and only 16% of the 32 songs that we were told were in the works.

We won't hear the other 84% until after album #1 is released Smiley

Are you assuming I don't understand basic English?

Do you not think a statement is appropriate if they do know its not coming out this year?

Personally it doesn't bother me. It either comes out in 2006 or it doesn't.

Sure, it would make many of you happy.

We'd have a bunch of "I knew it all along, told you so! You people are idiots!" posts....

As I tried to explain earlier, it's still not about what you want and when you want it.

GN'R is GN'R. One of a kind. That's why I still like the band and they never stop surprising me.

The reason I focus on the album is that I want the *new* band to stand on its own feet.

Sure, I can understand that.

But once again it's a question of what you want.....

It seems like many people want so many things from this band and those same people are also the ones who are very quick to put down the same band. If they get a tour, they're there to complain about the starting time or setlist.

So instead of trying to do what others want, the band does what they want. That's rock n' roll...

Well if they keep it up they will be doing "what they want" all by themselves because no one will be here to support them, that's the way life works, and I don't want that to happen to them so that's why I hope they set things straight real soon.

Does anyone else than me think that the silence from GNR-camp the last weeks is a good sign? I mean, if the album is delayed they would have told us? And still the last thing we heard was that its coming 2006.

Exactly. They said this year, and they said that it might just show up at record stores. That means the most optimistic ones here (you know, the ones that always supported this band no matter what) will be waiting for the album on Christmas unless it's out before that.

If the album is not set to come this year and they don't say anything, like you're suggesting it would be ok for them to do, then GNR fans will be disapointed. If they respect these most loyal fans they would let them know it's not coming as soon as they know it officially.
