I'll believe in '06 until such a time as Axl would need a time machine to travel back to '06 to release it (in fact, I know a guy who's REALLY well connected that says as soon as Slash's lawyers stop sabotaging Axl's time machine, it will be/have been released in 2002, with a full tour!).

They said 2006.  I'll believe it until 2007 or until they say otherwise.  If it's not out, I'll be disappointed, but not angry.  I'll buy it.  I hope I'll love it.  I might even steal YOUR copy, and give it to charity!

i'm sorry dude, guess i just don't follow hansons carreer as enthusiastically as you. long live cliff though.

anyway, i was tlaking to my friend, a female of sorts. and her boyfriend dumped her recently, but then he told a bunch of her friends that he might get back together with her. but he won't tell her anything official other than to be patient and not pressure him. its all very retarded and she waits and pines every hour of the day, and every time she hears something from him or about him she has to pick it apart and question every little choice of word. when really she should just chill out, and you know, maybe he'll come back to her, maybe she won't but if she just relaxes, it'll make the wait so much easier.

i hope you get the point of that story though.

When all I've got is precious time

Here?s a little rumour I heard. The source is reliable to me, but obviously to any of you it?s just more internet gossip. I live in the UK and work in the city. I know someone who works for a multinational law firm and got to talking with them. I?ll cut a long story short here (or try to). The person I spoke to is engaged to a US lawyer who works for a lot of showbiz clients. I won?t say anything more than that about my source, but here?s the scoop:

There is a significant section amongst the material that is intended to be on Chinese Democracy that was originally worked on by now departed members of the band. This doesn?t just refer to people who have been part of the ?new? guns n roses as Axl?s henchmen (eg Buckethead). This refers to the original band members, specifically Slash, who contributed to material years ago that Axl is now proposing to include on Chinese Democracy, including some of the tracks that leaked.

Now obviously Axl has been working on the album a lot himself, but the reality is, much of what has been done over the years has simply been a constant reworking of the same material, over and over again. Some of the riffs, solos etc are therefore either traceable back to Slash, or at the very least, based on material that Slash came up with.

This is causing significant problems for Axl because, although there are no court papers relating to this yet, once the album moves towards going gold, Slash?s lawyers will come down on Axl like a ton of bricks, either demanding significant remuneration from sales, or more likely, delaying the release of the album pending any court case. The bigger problem for Axl, of course, is the possible publicity, in particular, sections of the press coming to the conclusion that he can?t create on his own, and he has to rely on old material by Slash to get by.

Anyway, like I say ? take it for what you will.

Its bullshit. Slash didnt write shit that is on CD.. If you are talking about a song like This I Love slash wrote ZERO of that song. Because when it was going to be used for that Robin Wiliams movie it was just Axl singing with a Piano. For songwriting credits its 50% melody and 50% lyrics. Axl wrote both. Its just like Nov Rain and Estranged Axl wrote the music and lyrics so he has 100% of the credits, it doesnt matter if slash wrote the solos, those dont count. Why do people believe bullshit like this. The leaks were not written with the old band. Give me a break.

Before all my posts about subjective matters there should be an IMO before the post. I took this sig down but of course it has to go back up.

^ Well, leave then. Yes, I'm sure most of us will be heartbroken over your departure at first, but I think eventually both us and you will heal and accept that somethings paths split.

Yeah, it could be the best thing to do....if all people were like you, but there are also people in here who write interesting things (unlike myself probably  Grin)

So, fuck CD and the "release date" which for what I do not have any hopes for anymore

GNR's next lead guitarist

I think it's becoming generally accepted that we're not going to hear anything more about Chinese Democracy from the GNR camp until the tour has finished. And I think we all know why that is - they know that the misinformation that was previously spread will lead to a backlash.

Chinese Democracy simply isn't scheduled for release and never was. Universal told us as much.

Why do people continually post things like this.

It's not "generally accepted" by anyone that the album isn't coming out when the tour is finished. Also there was never a confirmed source at Universal saying the album isn't and never was scheduled for this year.

This rumour is also BS cause as far as I know Mr Rose forced the band members at sometime at the end of the illusion tours to hand over all the rights of the GnR name and the rest of the band was only "employed" as it is now. So if Slash wrote some things intended for GnR then it must be seen as some kind of "contract" work; so I am positive that Axl would hold all the rights now.
I also can not believe that CD is based on 10 year old songs that Slash might have contributed to...

Wouldn't matter what the 'contractual' status was, AFAIK any artist has copyright over their work and may have a right to royalty payment too.

Even though Slash played those solos he didn't write them.? So be careful with what you say.? *lol*? Anyone could've played those solos.? ?ok

Edit: Not that Slash wasn't important.  After all he did come up with the amazing riff in Sweet Child O' Mine.  And we do have to thank him for the music in Coma.   ok

« Reply #4496 on: November 30, 2006, 09:46:23 AM »

you can only copyright lyrics and melodies. ?riffs and various guitar parts could be replayed by current members without any problems, that is if any of this is true....

so you say that slash played note by note what axl said?? and probably that's why axl thanked him on the uyi2 for the solos in estranged?? because he didn't write them?

Simple reason why I don't believe that; the lawyer owes a duty to his client not to disclose any information regarding a potential case unless it's inside a court. ?If it is true, then you just got his ass fired by posting it on a message board for his clients to see. ?Not only that, but he can get disbarred and charged for disclosing confidential information regarding a client. ?So if this is true, a whole new can of worms just got opened.
