Me and my friends didn?t buy tickets to hear only old material. We have already done that, back in 2001/2002.
I?d go to a tribute-band show if I wanted that.
I want a cool mix of old and new. Like 5 from AFD, 5 from UYI and 6 from the new record to sing along to.

Yeah, that's why I think it would be smart to put out the album before the tour, so the audience can learn new songs and appriciate them live.

But, since Guns N' Roes is such a big name, they can do this tour without the new album.

I not quite sure. YES, they will sell out the venues. But the name would be massively damaged by such a tour, so the term "they can do this" becomes very, very relative - to give an example: I CAN reach the ground of the Atlantic without any equipment except a heavy stone on my foot.  Okay, I will be dead, but I CAN do it.  hihi

I totally agree, I was speaking in terms of selling out venues. I never said it was a good idea..

I don't think we'll hear a release date until at least the tour starts at the earliest. Everybody seems to be ignoring the fact that Axl is quoted as saying 'we are working on 32 songs and 26 are nearly done'. Not only does this mean that 6 are not nearly done there's also x number of incomplete songs that must need some more work or tinkering and who knows how long this will take. We will probably not hear a release date for CD until this album is finished and we know for certain 2 months ago it was not. Now any other band I would have thought, could record 6 tracks and apply finishing touches to x amount of other songs in the time between when Axl was quoted and this tour begins, obviously this just isnt any other band and who knows how long that process might take. I'm hoping for a release date at least by the end of the tour though ?ok ? ? ?

they don't need the album for europe, they need it for a NA multiple states tour... You'd be lucky if you see it right after europe./.. Shouldn't a single be out first?

The album will be release, but when will it be released that's the question,I hope it comes out this year, but that still doesn't mean that it will,I wish they'd just release it and have it out there so people could enjoy the cool music that will be on it  peace

1) impossible.

2) stupid idea.

limp bizket (however the fuck thats spelled) tried it once and the album didnt do well. on top of that, even though it was supposed to be a secret release, the people that worked in the music store knew it was there because the music shows up ahead of time, sometimes more then a week, and you know when things are going to show up because you are given truck manifests and things of that nature, release date lists, ect. even when it is meant to be secret the store has to be given materials to plan their advertising accordingly, otherwise no one would know it is in the store until 1) someone told you, or 2) you wandered in and happened to browse the gnr section, and i dont know about you but i havent browsed the gnr section since i bought illusion.

i think we basically know all there is to know at this moment, the album is being worked on. because its hard to really keep things secret nowadays. any big news wouldve found its way out here by now (like tour dates that show up here, and then a week later become official).

Not sure if this is a dumb question, but has a band or an artist ever "sneak" released an album?

Limp Bizkit did, and it failed...miserably.

Maybe because it is Limp Bizkit or maybe because it was sneaked...either way, it failed.
but limp dick sucks.  all the promotion in the world wouldnt change that.

Fred Durst (aka dumbass) also decided that there would be no promotion whatsoever and no tour as well.  Thats the main reason why it failed.

impossible was probably the wrong word. but it would be very very very hard. even non guns fans know how big the news of chinese democracy would be, and if someone knew they would mention it to a friend, and then that person would mention it to someone, and eventually it would show up here.

i know fred durst sucks, but we also have to keep in mind that gnr was big in the day, but axl has turned himself into a joke with everyone outside of the die hard gnr fans, especially after 2002. i really like the music and i would like to see him back on top again, but in order to do that this thing needs momentum, it needs word of mouth, and it needs some damn good press. it needs a single and most importantly a release date. we know this, and im sure axl and everyone involved with CD do also.

on top of that, if you sneak release it and it slowly trickles out there, you have more of a chance of people illegally downloading that way then if you give them an actual release date.

awesome, im finally a headliner.

Then there's the fact that this thread was first started in 2004....

So?What's your point?? Huh

We'll still be discussing release dates two years from now in the same thread...............

Which pretty much was my point, though I really hope that it's not the case.  That'll teach me to be subtle...
