Not sure if this is a dumb question, but has a band or an artist ever "sneak" released an album?

I think the beatles did also but not sure what album it was.  I think it did well though.

hihi

Limp Bizkit did, and it failed...miserably.

Maybe because it is Limp Bizkit or maybe because it was sneaked...either way, it failed.

There's no way Geffen would allow their biggest release of the last 10 years that they've spent almost 15 million dollars making to be "sneaked" released.  If that was true it would be the worst marketing idea ever.

I thought they switched to Sanctuary instead of Geffen, and I was also under the impression that they would let Axl do pretty much what ever the hell he wanted and that's why he switched.  Not 100% though

Well if what I read was right the album will still be released by Geffen,I think that Axl just changed the song publishing, meaning that the songs on the new album(s) will be published by Sancuary and so will all of the old songs. If I'm wrong someone correct me  peace

Fred Durst (aka dumbass) also decided that there would be no promotion whatsoever and no tour as well.  Thats the main reason why it failed.

Well..... you could. I mean, many of the shows are already sold-out, so..

But IMO it would be smart to have an album out this time around.

Me and my friends didn?t buy tickets to hear only old material. We have already done that, back in 2001/2002.
I?d go to a tribute-band show if I wanted that.
I want a cool mix of old and new. Like 5 from AFD, 5 from UYI and 6 from the new record to sing along to.
